It's pretty dumb how playstation store charges money for themes and Xbox completely did away with it. Lol

There are many things Microsoft did that I wish Sony would follow suit, for example backward compatibility, especaiily with Ps4 --> Ps5. Oh well, PS4 has more exclusives than Xbox has.

Even dumber is there's some past history that Sony will make a free theme available once every week or two, and sometimes within about 6 hours they will take the freebie away and start charging for it. So basically you have to jump on these free themes immediately because there's (IMHO) almost a 50% chance Sony will take it away.

Man that's brutal. I remember back in the day developers released themes for free as advertisement and fan satisfaction on Xbox 360. Shame on playstation. It's crazy how "free" today means you still need playstation plus

Maybe others remember the history better than I do. I just know I've missed at least 3 free themes in the last year because I didn't jump on them right when they were posted and Sony changed them to non-free on the same day.

There is no free ever. Lots of stores are going to subscription services... PSN, XBL, Amazon Prime, Costco, Sam's Club, and even Walmart has their shipping club. I wouldn't be surprised to find others join the subscription game. Soon Amazon will be just like Costco where there are 2 sets of prices... high ones for non-members and normal ones for Prime members. Soon no stores will pricematch Amazon because most of their deals will be Prime members only. This is their goal. Fry's Electronics went to promo code emails precisely so nobody could pricematch them. On BF the last holdout Walmart stopped pricematching ads. So basically stores are finding all sorts of ways to extract membership fees and get out of pricematching other stores.

They do this with games too. PS4 SD ppl know they see that happen too. Though they can cover with "price mistake" or whatever...then they're on sale again the next flash. Smh...I did get my PS4 Pro from walmart after price matching...then took it back (I was so mad at having to unhook it for them just to scan the receipt and box) twice and got about $40 more off

I've always wondered who would actually pay money for a theme, especially since most of them are really just advertisements for games. It reminds me of when people used to buy ringtones, except I can kind of understand paying for a ringtone and I think that was actually a profitable business for a while. This theme stuff just seems like a ghost town that nobody really cares about and generates no money. Seems like using them for free advertising would be smarter.

I've bought a couple over the years, neither of which is advertising anything and both cost me less than a buck each.

It's also pretty dumb how playstation charges for online multiplayer now after seeing the easy money xbox was making. Playing online was always free on PSN until PS4, now the only PSN games u can play online for free are stuff like Neverwinter, Onigiri, Warframe, Star Trek Online, etc basically the mmos...which I don't see lasting coz XBL is required to even play those...coz its such easy money to make that Sony is missing out on.
