He will not need the dash kit, as this head unit is vehicle specific. Take a look at the picture. Additionally, this unit is able to read a basic resistor ladder to monitor steering wheel controls. Hook up the two wires, learn each function one by one, then it saves that value in memory and should work fine after that. However, some vehicles send their steering wheel control data via CANBUS and this method will not work. That said, pretty darn sure he's good to go in the Toyota.

You will need to buy the wiring harness that is made for your specific vehicle. You would also want to consider an adapter if you want to retain any steering wheel controls. Lastly, you need an install kit, which is the actual frame around the unit that matches the install slot of your dash.

Slightly off-topic,
I am planning to buy this unit [ebay.com] for my Toyota Camry 2007 (CE)!

Since it specifically says "Camry 2007-2011", does it mean it has all wires/harness etc included or do I need to buy something extra before taking it to the installer?

Are you sure they are an authorized internet dealer? Pioneer website states they are NOT an authorized internet dealer:

The actual retailer is Drive In AutoSound, which according to Drive In AutoSound's website qualifies for the Pioneer Rebate.

Please view this post for a previous example. https://slickdeals.net/f/10323624-pioneer-avh-4200nex-7-motorized-touchscreen-dvd-receiver-360-after-100-rebate-free-shipping?p=102026684#post102026684

Thanks a lot.
I thought of actually buying this since this is specific to my vehicle (Toyota Camry 2007) so that there shouldn't be anything else to buy (as you can see it matches the slot with the exact size and shape)!
So you are saying I should still buy something else before taking it to the Car-radio-Audio installation folks? (I was told they should charge me only like $100 for the installation/labor, is that reasonable?)
And What do you mean by "good to go in the Toyota"? I need to take it only to the dealer? I thought any car-audio folk should be able to do it!

Buy a trim kit for $7, look on YouTube what you need to pull and do it yourself.

Nice. Cheaper than the refurb AVIC8100NEX I bought last year.

I love how they have to make a 8201 just to get a new yearly model out. Sale on the old model Smilie
