Device lease, Hard pull, and the pain of moving out and back in.

You make it sound so easy. Explain how this could be done as an existing customer.

Honestly it's not easy but it can definitely be done. Port out to T-mobile and make tmobile pay for your leased or financed device which now only takes 15 days then port back to Sprint.

There will be a credit pull and activation fees involved but it's well worth it in the long run

That's what i thought but the poster WuyiL posts a statement without breaking down the process. Not helpful at all.

Isn't the Tmobile paying for your leased device only for Verizon customers?

Nevermind: Googled it. Switch to T-Mobile and we'll cover your device payoff with a prepaid card when you get a new phone.

Not interested in a new device though.

You can't come back to sprint within a certain amount of time otherwise they don't consider you a new customer and can't get the free year unless you're new. So basically can't be done, sorry

Meaningless given how dismal Sprint's real-world speeds are in many places. Free WiFi is often faster, and more reliable. And this will only make things worse if they don't build up their capacity, which they won't, because they lack the cash.

Another gimmick by a company that's probably going to be gone or bought out in a year or two, to delay the inevitable. And Sprint is my carrier, so I'm not trying to promote a rival telco. Been with them for nearly 20 years and it's never been this bad.

I mostly use my phone in NYC, btw, especially Queens. YMMV.

Tried to see if I qualified. I didn't. They didn't explain why. We have a 2 line 3GB/mo shared plan for just over $80/mo total. It's an old grandfathered plan no longer being offered (but was a year ago). Which I think is basically any capped plan.

Sounds like yet another bogus marketing scheme that applies to few people.

Weird. On a whim I entered the secondary # on our account, and this time it was accepted. Tried entering the primary # again, and it was rejected again. The primary # generally uses a lot more data than the secondary #. So, again, basically useless promo.

This had better not change our underlying plan and/or cost us more each month, and make it impossible to go back to our current plan. I've been baited and switched by Sprint in the past this way.

Was about to say the same thing in my area. Never had sprint personally but I feel like it based on the amount of complaining i hear from their customers at work. Had a guy constantly complain he couldn't get over 2mpbs anywhere in the bay area. Told him to switch to Tmobile and in most areas he is getting faster speeds than at home. Only problem now he keeps praising me for geting him to switch when he had the 2 for 80 deal.

Sprint is the fastest where I live. I've seen over 100mbs, and get an average of 40-50.

Where do you live?

Sprint used to be just a little behind Tmobile and Verizon where I live, but now it's significantly slower. I'm guessing because of this free year of unlimited data.
