I would consider highly another Viewsonic projector.
I've had mine for 5+ years.
In moving a few years ago, I dropped mine while installing, so I sent it to them ($25) for repair (the fan wasn't kicking on).
It wasn't the fan but the bulb.
They swapped the bulb for free, sent it back to me ($0), and I was back up and running!

That bulb is still working! (~1000 hours)

Thinking of upgrading my 1070, would buying this be an upgrade?

Just curious can projectors be used as main viewing as in replacing a tv or just occasional use? Thinking of replacing my tv for one

booo don't lead him astray! It definitely can be used instead of a TV; but both of what he said is true. However, I would definitely take on the replacement bulb costs for the glorious big screen

How different is it compared to the Epson 2040 I ordered?

I never use my tv, only the projector for the past 2 years. The one time I had to bring my 50 inch tv back out while my projector was in for repair, it was very depressing.

I know right? I currently am on a crappy picoprojector but it still outperforms regular TVs on viewing pleasure. It's all about the big screen.

I replaced TV with projector for primary viewing. I like it a lot more. Usually used for watching tv shows, movies, and occasional gaming.

Home theaters are awesome. I've always been jealous of my friends who have them. I've been thinking about getting one but it's pricey and from what I've seen they have lots of technical difficulties.
