Please help I need tonight, LG G6 LS993 Sprint MSL

358 34 July 13, 2017 at 10:36 PM
I sold a phone on eBay unlocked Sprint LG G6. I was able to get it unlocked. My buyer made a couple phone calls and then the next day could not. Through research and speaking to multiple Verizon people we were told that each night it would reset the phone so that it no longer could be used on Verizon. Further researched I learned about the MSL code. First question to do this do you have to root the phone? 2nd question is how to do it step by step. And lastly what if any limitations should we be aware of.

I'm desperate because I just paid for my husbands 7 teeth to be pulled and now we need his upper dentures. If I get a charge back on this I can't. The customer loves the LG G6 but doesn't want to call every day to fix the problem, so please out of the kindness in your heart, if you can help, I really need it...worshipheart

Looked this up if it helps...depending on the model phone, it's quite easy to use a Sprint PCS
phone on VZW if you can get the MSL from Sprint. Which is easy to do if you
still have, or know someone who has, a Sprint PCS account

My suggestion would be to make a post on http://www.howardforums.com/ and if you do end up needing to root on XDA or similar android forum to see if it's even possible.

Either way you are probably going to need to compensate the buyer a bit. Unless a phone is factory unlocked changing carriers can be very difficult.

So if it's factory unlocked then he could use it on Verizon? I did post on XDA, no responses.

How you list a phone for sale is very important. It it were me I'd have made sure to communicate that it was the LS993 model for sprint and made a point of saying it was unlocked for sprint MVNOs and GSM carriers. I wouldn't have made any guarantee that it would work on verizon. The different model variants do have slightly different supported frequencies.

How did you get the phone unlocked? Hopefully you contacted Sprint directly.

I don't know, the radios could be slightly different and or the verizon software load could be different. Verizon is one of the more picky carriers when it comes to what they allow on their network. I don't have a solution for you to make this work.

if modifications to the phone are attempted it will most likely never work on sprint again.

You could always try to convince them to switch to AT&T.

I think the best thing to do at this point is have the buyer return the phone and OP refund the money then resell it as an Unlocked Sprint model with the disclosure that the Buyer is responsible to make sure it will work on their carrier.

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Charlotte, NC school shooting. 2 killed 4 wounded. April 2019
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.

He still wants to try. He made three calls and sent texts but Verizon said each day the computer would kick it out. Sprint won't unlock because they sold me service and phones in an area with no reception and they are ass's. I did USB unlock.

You weren't able to determine within 14 days that there was poor or no service in your area?

Yes, I canceled within 14 days paid everything in full. There were so many issues. I will never do business with Sprint. I will post some screen shots and copies of emails. Also will give you direct contact to Executive level support, for all that's worth. Anyone able to recommend unlock service for less then $40?

If you never unlocked it with the carrier no wonder it doesn't work with a different carrier.

Won't matter unless things at big red have changed. Compatible with the system means nothing if not in their ESN database. That's how it used to be, and the nightly resets could mean it still is.
