This thing is a joke. CADR rating of 100?

Try the Coway Mighty Air if you want a filter that actually filters well. It doesn't have wifi, but who the hell needs wifi on an air purifier?

Dang, I ordered it for $140 too. Guess they're having trouble moving inventory.

Just a tip--you can make this deal slicker by checking with your local electric utility. Mine (PSE&G Long Island) offers a $50 rebate on this model, making me just a tad less upset at Amazon dropping the price by $30 Stick Out Tongue

Does this purify the air better than the Winix 5500?

I would try reaching out to customer service to see if they can adjust the amount. I just canceled my order and use my wife's account to repurchase again. Save an extra $25- why not Smilie.

I was actually debating between the two. I definitely wouldn't know which one to recommend, but I decided to go with this one at the end of the day since it's 2/3 of the price and comes with extra bells and whistles.

That's not how CADR be used to determine if an air purifier is good. Here is a copy-paste from a guide 'an air purifier intended for a 120-square-foot room with a standard 8-foot ceiling should have a CADR tobacco score of at least 80'

This air purifier is for 12*12 so 100+ is fine

People were complaining about the filter cost of the Xiaomi purifier but the filters for this Germ Guardian are also over $30.

Ordered one, we have one in our bedroom and it is outstanding. You can certainly do better for more money, but this is great for the price and it's a long time between filter changes.

What's your definition of better? Is it because it can cover more sq ft?

Obviously I would go with the GemGuardian since... I bought it Smilie, but here are a few reasons why I think it's better, and please correct me if I'm wrong since I didn't look into the full details of the Xiaomi 2nd gen.

1. GermGuardian has UV-C technology
2. GermGuadian's filter cost a little less, and lasts longer (according to the manufacturer's life expectancy they can last 6-8 months whereas Xiaomi is listed at 3-6 months)
3. Costmetically, I think the GermGuardian looks better, and about 2 lbs lighter?
4. GermGuardian works with Alexa
5. You're buying from Amazon vs Gearbest... Smilie

At the end of the day, you decide what works best for you!
