This trash can has an infrared motion sensor that automatically opens the lid when you place your hand or any item within 10 inches of the infrared motion detector. It has an inner ring liner which conceals and holds the trash bag within the trash can. Powered by 4x D batteries. - Randy71

Awesome deal OP!
I've been watching for a deal on this 21.1 gallon trash can for some time. Best price on 3 camels in 7 years, other than a few days ago when it was $2 cheaper. Great find thanks OP.

Thanks. I own two of this model and just bought a third. They are way better than all other IR cans I've tried (large capacity means less frequent bag changes, quicker to open when triggered, survived thousands of open/close cycles, batteries last a long time).

What bags have you tried, and recommend?

I have one still working since 2012, the buttons/controls are peeling off over time. Bought another, hopefully this will last as long.

I like thick bags that can be loaded up without fear of a rip. These are snug but can be stretched around the outside (can't use the ring). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BPPN...AzbZBKQ79Z

For recyclables I use these which fit nicely around the ring. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017T1...AzbNY1J6ZC

I bought this thing last Christmas. It sucked the life out of regular Duracell's but when I used the green rechargeable at Harbor Freight it has been working without a recharge for 6 months now.

The batter hatch is in a terrible spot, be careful you dont accidentally toss it, it costs $7~ to replace.

Other than that the sensor is pretty good, you can set it to stay open and it has an on and off switch for when you swap out bags.

Flys and Pets could set off that sensor so be careful with that.

21 gallons? Assuming this goes a kitchen, that's a lot of trash being stored in the house from only one can. Which also means a higher probability of a bag tear because if you have a can that big "wasting" a bag is the last thing you'd want to do.

$60 for a trash bin? I just use a cheap plastic that I bought for $3.
