Didn't realize you needed an adapter to use with a one s which is a bs apple move. Removing a port needed to use something that already works with an older edition. Not to mention the adapter is $40 itself which kills the deal for an one s.

Let's face it, nothing ever happening for this device kills this deal. I'm surprised it's still this much.

It's a completely justified move, they're done with the Kinect so there's no reason to keep ancient legacy ports. If we kept all our old ports there would still be FireWire on laptops or the massive component or power ports from the 360 on the One. Yeah the adapter sucks bc it's expensive but it's free if you originally had a Kinect...everything they did seems pretty fair to me. It's the price you pay to buy ancient tech no longer supported

There was free adapter given by MS to connect kinect with Xbox one s. Not sure if that was limited time offer

The adapter isn't free anymore. I upgraded to an Xbox One S in May and found out the offer for a free adapter ended in March 2017 Frown

Basically a dance central machine. Voice commands are okay, if you're too lazy to press buttons

Yea if you had a one then an s they'll give u the adaptor for free but u need both serials. So nuts u lose the massive brick with the s but its like 4lbs of cables with the kinect lol

I love the kinect and voice control my wife hates it

I was in the same boat (only I upgraded in April). I'd happily get an adapter to regain voice commands, scanning DLC codes, and for the couple of Kinect games I have, but $40 seems kinda steep for something that inessential.

I loved kinect on the 360 only reason why I bought i bought with xbox one but ended up selling it soon after since there was no games being made. I still have the 360 Kinect mainly for dance central games and Kinect sports. Great for parties and kids

Assuming I don't plan to get games for this, is the Kinect just a voice activated remote?

How come this gets so many upvotes? Because it's sold by Amazon.
This was $10 at GameStop few months back (used one) and that one too was not a good deal considering the purchase of adapter.

The Kinect also provides facial recognition to log in with, which is kinda fun. That said it is not at all perfect and fails to see me about half the time. It will also see my daughters and mistake them as my wife.

The voice commands are handy though for when my kids get in a fight over something on the Xbox and i can't reach a remote. It will usually hear me without issue from the next room. The kids hate it though as it never understands them. Also the ability for it to control the TV is also handy, mime turns on the TV and off when i turn on or off the Xbox.
