Deal Alerts containing ampersand throw error 'Error: Your keyword may be improperly formatted'

I found this with a deal alert for cigarette freebies from L&M. My deal alert is simply "L&M" but I think there's an issue because ampersand is also a special character for logical 'AND' in the search query. I was not able to reproduce this warning using the logical 'OR' operator | in queries so it appears to just affect the ampersand.

I don't think alerts containing this warning will notify properly when new matches are posted. Also of note: when editing this deal alert I can click 'Preview results' which shows the results as I would expect.

The & won't matter to the search anyway, you can just do "L M" instead Smilie

I'm trying to setup a deal alert for H&R Tax software Deluxe edition. If I simply go to the search bar at the top, I can enter search terms on next line

"H&R" tax deluxe

I get 294 results in 13 forums searched on 1-6-2019 12:42 pm
When I put the identical search terms in a deal alert
I get Error: Your keyword may be improperly formatted
If I use the following search terms in a deal alert

"H R" tax deluxe

I get 13 results in Hot Deals forum.

HOW do I get a deal alert setup for this software that yields 294 search results just like a regular search box search at the top of the page?

The 294 results are from not just Hot Deals (which only has 13 live deals right now Wink), but also deal talk, archived deals etc.

I'm guessing you only want current or new deals? If so, then the 13 from Hot Deals is correct.

To include the other deals, you'd need to also include deal talk and the other forums in your alert. But rarely is anything new posted in those other forums, except maybe Freebies or Free Digital Goods forums. Deal Talk is where expired deals get moved to when they die, so most deals in there are dead.
