LED strips with barrel connectors are typically 2.1*5.5mm connectors. Any 12v power supply with that tip will work without any soldering required. An Amazon search for "12v LED Power Supply" will give you somewhere to start from. It'll probably run you about $10 for a decent one, though you can go cheaper depending on how long the strip will be.

Motion detection is a separate part that will go between the power supply and the LED strip. It'll switch on/off the strip when motion is detected. They also tend to run around $10 unless you're willing to wait on one to ship from China. An Amazon search for "12v motion sensor" will be a good starting point. Look for one with a female and male barrel connector and you'll be able to plug and play without soldering.

Overall, you'd probably end up getting it cheaper if you went for an all-in-one solution that comes with everything you need. The deal is dead now, but there was a post the other day for just such an all-in-one solution. It's up to $20 now.

Hope that helps some!

I went with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01J0WD01O/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

$7.71 add-on for rgb with the power adapter and remote. Grabbing the set of 10 connectors for 1.28 and I am going to use it to light my amiibo shelves!

there is this kit [amazon.com] that comes w its own lights, power adapter n a wireless remote for under $8. use this $1 connector [amazon.com] for joining 2 pcs together.

motion detect will probably require a lil more DIY work e.g. adapting a light fixture w detection.

With the light strip and power adapter hooked up to a dimmer light switch, would this allow dimming the LEDs?

That strip isn't going to be very bright anyhow, it looks like they're 3528 LED's and they don't put out that much light. They make in-line dimmers for the connector that's on these LED's, if you really wanted to use a dimmer though.

Others still available - but have fun replacing all those coin-cell batteries.
