The Robocop movies are on sale over at Vudu.

You can grab the original in HDX for $4.99. Grab this while you can, as it is an MGM title. This means they do not participate in Disc 2 Digital (I've tried!). This is an UltraViolet title, so it goes into your UV locker (not just a Vudu-only title sale).

There are Blu-Ray releases that come with the UltraViolet code, but it is not the standard release. These are bundles [blu-ray.com] and special releases [blu-ray.com], so if you want a digital copy, here you go.

I'll buy that for $5!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

It's marked R. Does it have the extra violence during Murphys death scene pre-becoming Robocop?

Going to Thumbs up & rep you for this posting (which I snipped...) even though I am not getting this movie. Because your POST is excellent, you covered all the bases that people new or UV old timers want to see. For those who are new to UV / VUDU or just don't yet know all the little intricacies of D2D/MD2D may not be aware of the points below that you covered well:

1) - Why ~$5 isn't so bad if you really want this movie in your digital library = because this is an MGM title and it is not D2D Eligible (99% of MGM's library is not D2D or MD2D - it's not 100% because they do have a couple but I digress).
2) - There are options for physical purchases which may make more sense to some or be more appealing for those who want the physical copy to get both Blu-ray & Digital when prices are dirt cheap versus spending the same or almost the same amount on Digital Alone. Everyone is a little different so options & information are always key to making the best decisions that are right for each person.

But as you pointed out for this older version of Robocop the physical disc + Digital HD options available are not the standard $5 fair... for example like when Terminator (1) goes on sale for $5 or $4 for the Blu-ray + Digital HD copy version.

Well there's also the whole bit about toxic sludge man getting splattered all over a car.

I would assume it is not the unrated directors cut. Too bad the extra blood actually makes it humorous and therefore breaks the tension of Ed209's shooting in the boardroom scene. Spoiler alert!

I was just curious because Vudu has Friday the 13th Jason Goes to Hell listed as R, but it is actually the unrated version.

I guess we'll have to wait for someone to chime in on this. $5 isn't a big risk, but if it's not the unrated, I'd never watch it. I know there's probably less than a minute difference, but this is a cherished film to be and I'd rather pay a few bucks more to watch it the proper way.
