I was looking for an inexpensive cellphone plan for my 2 kids and found that Tello is offering a free data promo at the time which is amazing and will save my kids' summer.

The plans start at $5 with 5 GB free for first month. Then just change to whatever data allowance you want to have, e.g. for month 2 I will switch back to 200MB with 100min and 200 text for $9 per month.

Use code 1DATAMIX or go through the link on the Tello promo page https://tello.com/promo/data

As for the Tello quality. I am with them since RP folded and like their service.

Cool off with a fresh offer!
Create your perfect plan mix by choosing your ingredients: minutes & texts, and make it as sweet as you like by adding data absolutely FREE, so you can taste the full Tello flavor.

Here's the recipe for this COOL offer:
Take one smart newcomer that switches to Tello starting July 17, 2017
Add a phone plan with mixed minutes, texts & data of $10 or more in any combination
Stir in one juicy coupon of 100% free data: 1DATAMIX
Enjoy this limited promo cocktail for your first month with Tello

Great find!!

Tello is good, simple, easy. (I've run into a few, tiny billing problems, but they were trivial and the service is well worth it.)

Free for the first month only?

Hahahano.

Between Sprint's terrible coverage and the fact that this ends after a month, I'd say a year of free service on Virgin is still a much better deal.

No need to TD by comparing apples with oranges. The Virgin deal requires an iphone purchase of $280 or more.
Also - Virgin and Tello both use Sprint MVNO service. No problem for me in the past 5 months.

It's basically $600 off the price of an iPhone when you consider the free service thrown in.

Tello is a one month courtesy worth about $40, and then you're stuck paying full price after that.

These single month promos are stupid, especially when Sprint is giving away 1 year free.

Stop spreading rumors. You just have to downgrade your plan after the 1st month. This is obviously not a deal for everyone - but e.g. for a kids' phone with limited data usage allowance, it's great.

By the way, if you don't like the deal... you can always move on instead of TDing.

Downgrade to less data than you actually need?

That makes no sense, and it's still full price for whatever plan you switch to.

As for not thumbing down deals, that completely defeats the point of the thumbs down option.

It's there to show displeasure with deals that aren't actually good deals relative to the current state of the market.
