Not even close! This is a $100 drone that you're comparing to a $500 one that used to be priced a lot higher. Quality doesn't always go with the money, but it definitely does in this case. You're not getting anything remotely close to a DJI Phantom 3 Standard with this Bug3.

Powered by a 2s 7.4v pack that's only 1800mah? How small and powerless is this?!
Probably a generic flight controller and non-replaceable radio receiver? So you're stuck with the transmitter they give you with it.
Better options out there cheaper, even some hobby grade quads and some decent toy grades like this one.

Picture looked nice though.

The review pictures do not look like the item picture! Looks like a normal $30 X5 with some landing gears added and a camera holder for gopro... If it can manage to get off the ground with it attached.
Also, no Alt Hold on this quad. I thought that was a standard feature of toy grade quads.

Should be maybe $65 since it has a bag and 2s battery included. $100 is too much and $150 is just way too much.

If you must use the GoPro5 and not a built in camera on the drone than probably the GoPro Karma.

I'm an x5 flier myself, this isn't like an x5 and has received very good reviews. Nothing like a phantom, it's very much like a tarantula - a newer version. It's comparable to a syma x8 in size. Brushless motors is a big plus over the x8.

yes it can carry a GoPro, it's like the lowest level quad that can carry one.
It's a fast powerful quad but not steady for taking rock smooth video.

Is this a good deal? I thought it wasn't until I saw- brushless motors. That's a big plus. Yeah, it's a good deal, especially over the x8. I won't buy one because I like the convenience of flying in X5 anywhere I go. That's harder to do with larger quads that make a lot of noise and draw attention. But, this quad gets very high reviews so if you have a good area to fly....looks like a winner to me.

If you want a quad that can do what a phantom or mavic can do, then you buy one of them- this isn't it. This is more for flying fun but can carry a GoPro. That's not to downgrade this quad. a lot of people buy an expensive quad like a phantom and then find out they would rather fly more than video more. A cheaper quad like this fits that category without worrying all the time if your going to lose it or !!!crash. Who does stunt flying with a phantom?

I rather add 100$ more and get a 3dr solo drone. Atleast i can trust it flying far without disconnecting or battery dying suddenly...

No arguments from me if someone wants to spend the extra amount. The solo seems like a great product- although discontinued. We could also say spend another $200 more than the solo and get a phantom...depends on what you want to do with a quad and your budget. The solo is overkill for stunt flying - flying in high winds with others not around and doing risky maneuvers. That's what a >$100 quad with cheap parts is for.

I might bite on that solo for a camera bird, wonder how reliable the refurbs are?

Two of my coworkers bought this as their starter drone and they love it. They describe it as bare bones with no alt hold or gps but very speedy and maneuverable. I think the brushless motors is what caught their eye at this price range. They said the flight time was around 12-15 minutes with no attachments and about 7 minutes or so when carrying a go pro. I've seen plenty of my buddy's go pro footage and it looked great to me but I'm no expert. Just my (2nd hand) two cents.

I have had this quadcopter for about 2 months. I can tell you that this deal is worth every penny! When I bought mine, I bought a few extra sets of props and another battery because I consider myself an amateur. For the money, it cannot be beat! It is crazy fast when the batteries are fresh. I have flown it so high that I almost lost sight of it (and was able to control it to bring it back down.) One battery usually gets me 10-15 minutes of flight time. Mind you, I'm attempting to fly it like a racer, as I don't have a camera attached to it. It has two speed modes. I'd use the slower one if I were doing any sort of photography. I purchased this mainly to learn how to fly a quadcopter without having to rely on GPS or headless mode. I can tell you that I've already way bypassed the drone flying skills of my buddy that has a DJI P3! He couldn't believe how fast it was, and how well I was able to control it after about a month of flying. He's had his for well over a year! Like I said, if you are an armchair hobbyist, this is a great learner, or general knock-around flyer. It can do flips, etc. too. The LED front light is CRAZY bright, and the under-arm LEDs are phenomenal for orientation. They make night flying an absolute treat! If you have been looking for a drone to start out your hobby, snatch this deal up in a heartbeat! You cannot go wrong!

I have no doubts what you said was accurate. Yes, it's amazing what can happen when you have to do everything by the seat of your pants without a computer telling you how you have to fly. You really have to learn without altitude hold and other things. your buddy is probably Afraid of crashing or losing the phantom so he can't fly it like that -taking chances. Risky flying turns you into a good pilot fast. he has a much longer curve learning to fly. That's why most experienced users say skip the phantom at first and buy a cheap flier. - lots of crashes to follow.
