Ahh, it's the special email price. Now it's tempting me for another set of headphones I don't really need.

review is for wood veneer w/regular cable (I own exact model - except an open back ! love mine Smilie !) OP's is all aluminum w/cipher cable included ! EL8s are easily driven by your phone Smilie but external amp/dac 'll make 'em sing ! Wink audeze cipher does the job pretty well - but can't compare to my pair of fostex HP-P1 & V1 Rock tube can't be beat !

comparison to the HiFiMan HE-560, at 45ohms and open vs closed from the SD community?

here's what HeadFi said about the open EL8 (not the close one in OP)

Better off with the Oppo PM3's than these. While these are great, they are heavy as heck and aren't really portable because of that.

I loved the PM3 after in listening to friend's pair. But I've read that Audeze Sine sound and comfort is marginally better. Anyone can chime into this claim? I still like the PM3's design more though.

Comfort and sound between the two is debatable. Some will like one over the other. Both are top notch. But the difference in weight on both your head and in your wallet is VERY noticeable Smilie Hence why I recommend the PM3 over the EL8.

I can vouch for the PM3's... A joy to listen to. Not to mention, OPPO's customer service is outstanding

I played w/all 3 head to head ! ended up keeping EL-8 open back ! and no cipher cable in my case ! Wink

HE-560 are good - but sterile ! also I didn't like the separation on some tracks ! on other hand I liked oppo much better - but again - their claim of being over ear headphones is greatly exaggerated !! and I mean it Smilie even on my younger kid - it was on ear HP ! sound wise much better than hifiman - but not even close to audeze Rock

btw - built quality and materials used are far more superior on audeze as well ! and am not sure if oppo uses leather at all ?! cause w/on ear fit, I didn't last 20 minutes - uncomfortable and hot ! EL-8s are heavier and larger cans ! but their performance well compensates for their weight and size (actually not that terrible!) ! after lcd2 and 3 laugh out loud you may decide EL8s are featherweight ! well Wink sine and mp3 are in the same boat (comparable!) ! no matter that oppo claims their design is on ear ! as I mentioned above - believe oppo uses pleather on mp3s + size is really small (not a problem if you have a very small melon Smilie ! for me - comfort and pleather ?! was a deal breaker ! no matter that I really liked the sound and separation on oppo ! bottom line is - I still prefer audize to both hifiman and oppo (which I actually admire for their sound!) due to its overall sound performance, comfort and quality ! they feel different (imho ?! much better) !
