Walmart has these available on clearance. I've picked up two and set one up to make sure it works with Alexa. Set up took about 5 minutes.

This is my first post, so I hope I covered everything! Smilie

It could turn it off. Once.

I read in some reviews that these expose your WIFI SSID and password in plain text. If someone is sniffing network traffic this could make your home network easy to hack. I am not sure if this is true or not, but if it is that is a deal breaker for me.

Otherwise great deal!

I don't know if they could be on a guest network while Alexa was on your normal network, but that may be a way to protect yourself more. But I truly don't know if that's possible, or even if it provides any protection. I didn't find anything negative about them online, but thanks! I'll look into it for myself.

If you want to use such toys, make sure you segregate your network .... IOT's are not something you want to mess with connecting to your internal trusted network.
I would not use these with my amazon or google IOT's.

Yes. You'll need to install an app for a mobile device for setup, and a skill through the Alexa app. Took me about 5 minutes start to finish

I think it told already but couldn't resist, be careful with what you do giving access for such brand devices to your WiFi. IoT (Internet of Things) hacks are a new trend so if you are not an expert on In-home Networking, I would say don't buy this

The box states that it's rated for 125v AC at 15 amps. The instructions state that the device will turn itself off if whatever is plugged into it draws more than 16 amps.

Edit:
Box also states: "1000W tungsten, 500VA Electronic Ballast, 1/2 HP 120V AC 60Hz 8.3A ballast"
