Great price OP for this add on module! I don't personally keep mine on the phone daily, but it's handy for using when you are at event/party when you will be taking lots of pictures. It's adds extra battery life and gives you an added physical "button" to press.
If you have the AT&T branded LG G5 (HG-820) you will need the CBG-720 version for compatibility. I bought a new one for $9.49 shipped from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/222536234417

I did purchase this device and i am happy to have it when taking pictures.

The g5 already has that great feature where double-tapping Down-volume automatically starts your camera and takes a picture immediately, i find that feature to be more reliable for starting my camera than the on-toggle.

The add-on provides a nice grip that makes pulling it out of my pocket very convenient, also makes it more easy to identify front versus back on the phone.

I also really like the physical picture and video button location, allows for easier grip when taking pictures.

The zoom switch is take it or leave it, i find it reacts too slow and i end up over-zooming and typically i just avoid using it.

As others say, it adds battery life, do note that the Cam prioritizes charging itself over your main battery, so if your phone is really low on battery, better to bring a spare charged battery or prepare to add an extra 10 mins to your charge time.

Overall for the cheap price, highly recommend picking the Cam up! The camera on the Lg5 is awesome, and this add-on enhances the experience.

I don't plan on leaving it on full time either. Just have it in the car for when I know I'll be snapping more than a few pics.

Does anyone know if this truly works with the RS988 model? The reviews seem contradicting.

Dropped my phone in the water and the mic stopped working. This has a mic built in, so it was a lifesaver!

Sweet, thanks OP, the extra battery life alone would be worth it in a pinch.

I got a CBG-700 bundled with my RS988 from B&H Photo, and it worked fine.

More phones should have such attachments.

I didn't think I would leave mine attached so I bought it and a wallet case, which has never been touched because I leave my module in my phone 24/7 for the extra battery and grip.. There's a molded silicon case floating around on eBay for 10 or 15 that will protect the g5 with module. Highly reccomended for battery and grip alone..

Does this thing work as a steadi cam for my phone camera? Or is it just literally a grip?

Make sure your phone has the latest firmware as it will not work with some of the older firmware.
If you run down both batteries, your phone may continually reboot until the extra battery is charged, and only then will the main battery charge.
Also know that once the extra battery in this unit fails, it will no longer work. and you will need to go back to your original module.
Mine was good for about 6 months used every day before it failed. Worth the cost, but limited use....
