When it arrived I put the Dell cartridge and the Tn-660 side-by-side and unscrewed the 3 screws at the end of the cartridge on both of them. I had to loosen a tab and then the cover easily popped off. Then I swapped the smaller drive gear from the Dell cartridge to the TN-660. The Dell didn't have a "counter" gear at the other side of their cartridge, so I took it off the Tn-660. Then I had to swap the gear covers between the 2

Edit:
From danzilla
No no no. You NEED the counter gear on the TN-660 because it's presence and position is what tells the printer how much toner there is. That's the on reason it wasn't on the starter, because no gear indicates it's the smallest possible amount (700). Gear is position 1 = 1,300 page TN-630 toner and position 2 = 2,600 page TN-660. Look for a youtube video on refilling the TN-660... that should also show you how to set the counter, or 'flag' gear.

Generic looks cheap on ebay :

With a little modification you can use the brother TN660 toner carts on this. Those are cheaper still:

I bought a $25 staples e-gift card for $20 through discover rewards, so it saved me $5.

Also mister r*bates gives back 4 points.

Got one. My Pantum was running low and I was looking into toner, and it was around $50.

This printer at $50 was front page a few times before.

Thanks.

I got this for $50 in June. It's been excellent and well worth it and an absolute steal at $40. Like others I also used this to replace my $25 Pantum now that the toner ran out on the starter cartridge and the toner for that printer is so expensive. People were complaining about wifi connectivity on this but I've had zero issues so far.. it was an easy set up (similar to the Pantum where you plug it in via USB and configure on your computer then unplug and it's good to go) and has "just worked" since then.
