A new program is coming in November 2017 which allows honorably discharged veterans to shop at all exchanges online tax free.

You verify your vet status at the site above.

Here is a link for a site dedicated to military news verifying it. The link to vetverify.org is at the bottom. http://www.militarytimes.com/arti...p-tax-free

It took me a whole of 20 seconds to verify mine.

Or I could just shop at Amazon or Walmart with tax and still save a boat load over this. They are so not competitive on pricing. They're expanding the pool of eligible shoppers to try and save their sorry butts and increase sales, not out of some moral obligation or the goodness of their hearts.

Secondly, this is a repost of a repost of a repost...

No one said they will have deals 24/7. But when there are great deals I certainly will now have the ability to take advantage of them.

What I do is price match stuff at the exchanges from out in town to save on the taxes. Every little bit helps!

Just having the 214 isn't necessarily enough. The system refuses to recognize my information, waiting for VA to respond as I am registered in their system.

As mentioned the problem with AAFES is they are rarely competitive. On rare occasions there will be a good deal. It's a shame since they really could be more competitive.

I am currently on Active Duty .. I will tell you that although I live on 10 miles from an AAFES PX I RARELY go in there .. they are NEVER competitive ... I do 100% of my shopping at Amazon and Wal-Mart before I would even think about AAFES .. AAFES is great if you are deployed overseas and there is simply no where else to go .. but seriously ... their prices are always higher ...

For those who need it for this or other deals, you can get a copy of your DD214 from the National Archives: https://www.archives.gov/veterans...ce-records

Most stores offer 10% off military discount which is better than tax free. Last I checked, px pricing wasn't much to look at considering we are all SDers. Maybe if there was a dedicated section keeping track of military pricing, coupled with tax free maybe. Otherwise on store military discount beats this most of the time.
