Just do a 1050 ti or a 470/480. Anything more might be overkill and get bottlenecked by the CPU (or not I dunno). Edit: These Lenovos use proprietary PSUs so you won't be able to use an 8-pin connection without changing the PSU and ordering an adapter for the mobo from China. So any GPU should ideally be one that only requires power from the PCI.

Ryzen and i5 is way better than this.

Do the A series processors have any certain advantage over Ryzen or an i5?

I need a new desktop but would probably only really put it to use for photo editing. Gaming would nice but I stick to consoles for most of my gaming.

Any ideas how many 3.5" drives I can add to this computer? My HP micro server is getting up there in years and if this would accommodate all of my drives it could be a winner

Good price on a general purpose tower. A healthy amount of DDR4 certainly helps this deal. The GPU is certainly not on par performance-wise with the current AMD chips, but the price is right for what you get.

Is there a decent GPU upgrade that would make this a solid gaming rig? I'd love to hook one up to a TV with 1080P output, so I don't need anything crazy. Maybe the radeon R7 already provides this?

How would this for for a home server (OwnCloud/Plex/OTA TV recording)? Potential for adding security camera storage to the mix too.

It can game OK just by default. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fhofif943Q8 ~45fps Battlefield 1.

Could I swap out a Ryzen processor on this later? I want to say that the new APUs use the same socket.

Is this a good deal for someone that just wants a decent computer for copying large files and uses applications? ( No Gaming ) I was thinking of adding a SSD as the primary drive.

Or should I wait for a newer Intel or Ryzen processor Desktop?

Should be fine for home server, but not sure about security camera. There was a Dell PowerEdge T30 that was on sale a week back that might've been a better deal. Of note, I've been debating on the a Plex Server for about a year now, and whether to go down a HTPC vs NAS route, and finally went with a NVIDIA Shield TV (2017 edition). It'll take care of all your home server needs you have listed, but I don't believe it would have security camera storage abilities.
