silver is also available and $100 off .edu coupon works for that too

i'm shocked this hasn't gone FP yet. $999 for M5 model, albeit last year's model. for someone who doesn't want a Macbook 12" def not a good deal. for someone who has been waiting for one of these but needed the M5 512GB Macbook model...you won't get any better than this price without going used

m5 is faster in a straight line, the m3 is better at the curves.

I have absolutely been waiting. Searched MacBook on Slickdeals, saw this exact model posted for $1199 with a lot of comments this is $200 cheaper!

FWIW I got a $1095 gift card with MileagePlus X (1 mile per dollar)

Mileageplus shopping portal another 1095 miles (1 mile per dollar)

Back to school shopping portal bonus of 3000 miles so made out with 5,000 UA miles on top of this already awesome deal

I don't think this is a great deal considering the current year MBP (albeit at 128gb) is just $50 more.

This year model was also $1000 a few months ago.

From what I read, last years m5 is about the same performance as this years m3, but obviously the 512gb is worth something compared to the 256 for 2017 base. The 2016 keyboard was worse than this year's model.

The good The 2017 12-inch MacBook adds the improved keyboard mechanism from the MacBook Pro line. New processor and RAM options mean better performance.

The bad Little else has changed, including the lack of ports beyond a single USB-C connection. You still can't get more-powerful mainstream Intel processors.

i wouldn't think someone would be looking at both a Macbook Pro 13" and a Macbook 12". i dunno, maybe they are. usually someone who wants the Macbook 12" needs something lightweight, small, and more portable. sure it's just an extra 1", but the Macbook 12" is insanely thin and lightweight. you don't even realize you're carrying it in your bag honestly

i wouldn't recommend the Macbook 12" as your only laptop...unless you really can deal with the 12" screen and don't do anything outside of what the M5 can handle

I briefly had this last November for a few weeks and absolutely loved it and that was the base model. It is a really attractive laptop
