This deal pops up every once in a while. I just purchased one and made an offer for $25 and within an hour or two they countered with $28 with free shipping. I ordered on Sunday and will get it tomorrow.

There are two modes for this - the default mode (I don't use this) and a Novation launchpad mode (it gets detected as one in Fruity Loops).

Here's the info from the post:
Seller: musicgroup1 (100% positive feedback)
BEHRINGER CMD TOUCH TC64 Controller - USB for DJ - Sealed + Full Warranty
Clip Launch USB Audio Controller with 64 Buttons and Multi-Color LED Feedback

Clip launch controller for triggering audio clips and MIDI events
Intuitive 8x8 clip launch grid with navigation, mix and track control buttons
High visibility multi-color LED feedback shows status of each button
For use with Ableton Live*, Hauptwerk, or other music production software
Novation Launchpad* compatibility mode
USB bus-powered compact design for ultimate portability
Compatible with Apple iPad* via USB Camera Adapter
Class-compliant MIDI-over-USB protocol for "plug and play" operation
3-Year Warranty Program*
Conceived and designed by BEHRINGER Germany

--

Originally I paid $30 for the first one and I've enjoyed using it. There are some programs you can use to assign the buttons that make it useful for other projects.

Can it be used with:
Akai Professional MPK Mini MKII | 25-Key Ultra-Portable USB MIDI Drum Pad & Keyboard Controller with Joystick

If so, how would it make it any better?

I've used this with Ableton Live and Fruity Loops. There are trial versions available for both so you can play around with them. Be sure to set the device to novation launchpad mode (it might work in the other mode but this is easier I think). It should perform alongside other devices like the Akai one mentioned. I was actually going to plug in a Korg controller I have tonight (haven't tested both together yet) but I don't see a problem. I'm an amateur so maybe somebody else can answer compatibility. It's likely you can use them both together to supplement what you do already. I could see using a keyboard with it for sure.

Other uses: there is software that lets you assign the pad buttons to key presses or macros - I forget the name of it though unfortunately. If I see it later I'll post it in the wiki.

Here's links to music software:

try checking youtube for this device or the novation launchpad to see how it's used and what you can do

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping there was free software to play around with to see if this is something I would enjoy. If I remember correctly there are free programs but I have no idea if this device will work with them. I've always enjoyed trance and other electronic music plus I was a drummer in HS.

They are actually the parent company of Behringer (plus Midas, Klark technic, Turbosound, Bugera, TC Helicon, etc). So these are factory refurbs and usually come with the full original warranty as well.

Item condition says new - pretty sure it is. I bought one from their retail site for $30 a while back and it was brand new looking. I *think* it was confirmed they were new items back then. I'd probably have bought either way - wanted a second one so I could look really cool with the lights off and impress my wife. lol

In the latest Fruity Loops trial you can open up some performance mode examples and they work great with this. Couple different approaches / examples. There is also a launchpad template (think it's under New - Template - Performance) that is set up to use / create similar things easily.

As far as other programs - it's a midi device and requires no drivers. It *should* work with most other programs that support midi devices but I haven't tested much myself.

Does anyone that has this device know if it also has chromatic scale key change mode? It was added in a later version of the firmware of the LaunchPad Pro:
