Good deal +1.

This is a better deal than the OP lets on. This is a hot/cool unit. Originally cost $400+ at most retailers. You could easily pay $300 for a 10,000 BTU cool only unit, let alone a hot/cold over 10K BTU for under $300, that's unheard of.

Only downsides of this deal:

- 90 day warranty (Vs. 1 year for most other portable ACs).
- Requires shipping (and shipping a portable AC can be problematic).
- When it arrives, stand it upright, and wait 24 hrs. Like fridges, portable ACs need to be standing upright for the fluid in the pipes to settle. If you run it immediately you could damage your unit.
- Hygiene (since it is second hand, and even with new filters, not everything will go).

I'd totally buy this if I needed one. I'd just hope it arrived in one piece.

Any idea the difference between the three models? There's a HPND14XCP, HPND14XHP-E, and a HPND14XHP available all for the same price. I couldn't find anything different between the three on Newegg and through a quick Google search.

This is a pretty stellar price. I literally just bought one off craigslist for $250 and the thing is great. I had an older other brand model, and this one seems to be better. Too bad i'm in california, $25 tax is brutal, otherwise i would just buy another one and sell the other brand model

Sold and shipped by NewEgg so I am in. Great price. I almost pulled the trigger on this just a week or so ago. At this price no brainer. And unless I am missing something looks like 30 day free return if defective which should be plenty of time to show signs of defect.

I'm not trying to TC, I am just confused about these because I thought I wanted one. If it is portable but it still needs to be vented out of a window, isn't that....not portable? In other words does it work just the same as window unit, only it sits on the floor instead of in the window?

It's portable in that it's not permanently attached to a window. So you technically can move it from room to room if you wanted, but honestly it's a PITA and if you need it in multiple rooms you will just buy one. Once it's setup you don't want to move it unless you physically move

Have you ever felt the heat that exhaust on a window unit? that's why this is a dual hose for fresh air and heat exhaust and you always want a dual hose over a single

Have you done research on Shinco? I've not, so curious.

The Haier model is very highly reviewed either at homedepot or amazon.

No, it's even worse than that because you have to drain it or hook it up to a drain indoors.

If you can, ALWAYS get a window unit over a portable, they're better in every regard: they're more efficient both energy and cooling wise, they give more cooling BTU per buck, they're safer because it's a huge fookin hassle to break into a window with a window AC vs pushing the plastic fan guard out of the way for a portable, and they drain outside.

If you have no options or need a room to room air con, then get a portable, and get a dual hose.

It's portable in the sense that you can push it room to room and install the vents in a window in like 10 seconds.

In addition to what other posters have said, you can't have an air conditioner that does not vent outside of the room that it's in. You have to vent the heat outside, or you'd never be able to cool the room.
