SGAmmo [sgammo.com] has 900 Round Crate - 7.62x51mm L2A2 Ball Surplus Ammo from Malaysia - 146 Grain Bi-metal FMJ - Brass Case at $333.00 per crate with $28 shipping making it 40CPR shipped.

Late 1970s to Early 1980s Malaysian manufacture L2A2 mil-spec 7.62x51 surplus ammunition packed in 3 x 300 round sealed original military ammo cans in an 'apple crate'. The cans are M19A1 type commonly called 30 cal cans. Please note that some of the cans will be rusty in places and the seals can be so set in place the gasket may break when you open them, some of the apple crates may be falling apart and the packaging shows roughness from its 37 years of age. The ammo itself is mostly very clean looking, but we saw some rounds with minor cosmetic tarnish in a few cans out of the dozen or so we inspected. It will still be reliable military grade ammo, just starting to show its age cosmetically. Each can is neatly stenciled with the military markings. It features attributes such as a brass case, a non-corrosive berdan primer that is non-reloadable and a lead core bullet that has a magnetic bi-metal jacket. Packaging is 7x40 round boxes, and one 20 round box, making a total of 300 rounds per can, 3 cans in a crate. This is a new item here at SGAmmo, in 16 years of the ammo business I had never had it before, but I did a bit of google searching about this ammo and it seems to be very well liked from reviews on gun forums from years past. I have added a lot of pictures of this item so you can see it from just about any angle

Update: If this is the same ammo as in the past, it's Australian made. I can confirm next Tuesday hopefully when I receive my order.

Last time it was advertised as 'Malaysian' it turned out to be actually Australian manufacture. :-) This is the first time Sam has got this stuff in so I don't think he's as familiar with it as he is with his other stuff. Anyhow, as said, I will find out next Tuesday. Providing that 85lbs doesn't kill my UPS guy...

Ran into my UPS guy coming home. he laughed when I apologized for the weight...
The wood box is thin cigar box type wood and mine was in pretty good shape. The 3 ammo cans took some muscle to get open the first time but the seals are still in good shape. As are the boxes. The 20 round box in each comes with a pink bow. yummy The rounds (date stamped 81) look clean and in good shape. I''ll have to wait for the next range trip to see how reliable/accurate they are.

This is not Aussie made like a previous deal a buddy of mine bought. The MAL headstamp identifies them as made by Syarikat Malaysia Explosives Ltd., Batu-Arang, Malaysia. Currently known as SME and a military supplier.

Thanks for the update. Any concerns with the reliability of ~36 year ammo?

The ammo looks good so I would say it has been stored properly. It should still go satisfyingly bang...

Did the cans you got have their wire seal intact? The 540rd .50cal cans I got from SGAmmo had the wire seal broken. I tossed in a few desiccant packs and closed them back up

The wire seals on all 3 were in place. As was the one on the wooden box they came in.
