Honeywell WiFi Smart Thermostat @Lowes from $107.00 YMMV

YMMV, I picked this up yesterday from Lowe's online, same day pickup for me, used a $20 off $100 coupon to get it down to $87.**. Pricing varies, my store was at $107.** + tax. My local electric company also has rebates for these. $100.00 rebate for smart thermostat and $30.00 for programmable. YMMV.

Mentioned in another thread, thought even with extreme YMMV might be useful to some.

Great thermostat. I have one of 3 in my house. If I could do over I'd buy 3 of these rather than the mix I have now for cost reasons (ie I don't see a big difference between this and the Ecobee 3).

Anyone know if this will work with a multi zone system? The specs don't say. I have 3 zones with hot air blown gas heat and central AC controlled by one thermostat in Zone 1. Remote Carrier sensors are in zones 2 and 3.

For my own curiosity, how exactly does that work? You have sensors in each zone that report back to the main thermostat the temperature in the local zone, and the thermostat can then tell the air handler in the attic which zones to send air to via ... what? How does all of that work?

Yes, actually. Zone 1 (the entire first floor) has the main thermostat and there are 2 zones upstairs with their own remote sensors. I can set different temps for each zone. When say Zone 2 (our master bedroom upstairs) reaches the temp set for that zone, there is a baffle that closes in the blower for that zone only. The system will remain on until the set temps are reached for the other zones. The baffles do all the work for maintaining the correct temps. Zone 3 is our kids bedrooms so it's nice to have the option to make our bedroom cooler in summer without freezing the kids.

The only negative is that with the current thermostat, I have to go downstairs to the main thermostat if I want to adjust the temps. The remote sensors upstairs have no screen or ability to adjust anything. See attached photo of the sensor. I was hoping that this thermostat would be compatible with a multi-zone system . The remote wifi control would be nice.

I don't believe this is a multi zone thermostat. There are no temp sensor hook-ups for it that I am aware of.

Thanks. Specs also says it doesn't have a remote Outdoor Weather Sensor which I have on my current thermostat and would need on a new thermostat.

No, it will not work with a carrier zone system with sensors. The sensors are a communicating type and this thermostat is not.

I got three of these at the Target clearance last year (IIR < $70). Used one on my upstairs system and ebayed the other for 2 ~$130 ea. I found I loved the convenience and now wish I'd kept another one. So, if I could find one in my area for $107, I'd grab it for sure.
But none in my area for less the $179, so I'll keep watching.

thanks for the pic and description.

are the blower controls handled through wiring/install of the thermostat, or do you need additional equipment for each zone you setup? how many physical A/C units do you have?

Google search for the Lowe's coupon generator or buy one on eBay.
