Costco coupon book August 2017 (Aug 3-27) - preview is live now (July 28)

Costco's coupon book for August 2017.
The preview is live now (July 28).
The offers run August 3-27.
https://www.costco.com/warehouse-savings.html
Costco coupons are manufacturer discounts, so these discounts are POST-tax.

[EDIT:]
Adding Costco Insider's version of the coupon book, since Costco.com's link will be deactivated after the book's expiration and will be recycled for the next coupon book:
August 2017 Costco Coupon Book [costcoinsider.com]

Also, check out Costco Insider's recommendations of what to buy in this book:
Costco August 2017 Coupon Book [costcoinsider.com]
I quoted the recommendations in my second post below.

[Also, strikethrough's below.]
[END EDIT]

[EDIT 2:]
sboli has an excellent recommendation for another Costco insider site, The Frugal Hotspot [frugalhotspot.com], that highlights many treasure hunt items and also previews Costco's coupon books.

Just wanted to give props / attention to all these Costco insider websites that preview / leak the Costco coupon books early, so we can plan - and discuss & publicize deals on Slickdeals. They did all the heavy lifting when Costco would not give us a preview - until recently.
{END EDIT 2]

==================================================

Since Costco's links (like above) are not permanent, I will try to later add a permanent link from elsewhere, so this thread will still be useful in the future.

For example, Costco Insider [costcoinsider.com] does a great job of posting Costco's coupon books, with a discussion of good deals, a partial list of regular prices for some of the coupon items (i.e. when the coupon doesn't give a final price but just says $#.## off), and a comments section.

Usually, Costco Insider beats Costco.com in posting a (leaked) preview, but this time is slower (below link doesn't have a PDF yet as of 12:45am PDT):

To kick off the discussion....

Coupons are manufacturer discounts, so these discounts are POST-tax.

This month's tire coupon is for Bridgestone, $70 off a set of 4, no limit.

The toilet tissue coupon is $4.40 of Charmin Bath Tissue, limit 2
This is your chance to load up - recently, I notice that Costco doesn't carry Charmin - unless it is a coupon item....
Seems like this year's [changes] to the coupon books has raised the past limits of 1 per household on Proctor & Gamble, et al items like Charmin, Tide, Dawn et al to a limit of 2 - no mention of household. The reason was supposed to be fewer coupon books with less repetition - but there seems to be the same number of books - and I have seen Tide repeated several times now.....
I liked Northern 3-ply (thickest), but I personally am boycotting Koch brothers products [google.com] (Superpac's influencing elections).
Charmin Ultra Soft is the best balance of softness and strength (some claim Charmin is not sewage-friendly though) for me; but I dislike Charmin Strong - strong - until wet then pretty poor / worse than average - and rough (not bottom friendly).

When comparing toilet tissue, note that Costco usually has versions (like Charmin) that have larger sheets than at other stores.... (Why we love Costco - they usually give us more for the money, like Top Tier gasoline as low prices.)

Some deals I like:
=============
$3.30 off Kellogg's Rice Krispies treats, 54pk, limit 6
Not hard to make your own, but this is a lot less messy - and if you ever got a marshmallow burn.... And the foil wrapped individual packs stay fresher, help with portion control, and are convenient.

$4.50 off Nylabone Natural NUBZ Edible Dog Chews, no limit
One of the hardest "dental" chews at Costco, lasts longer, from a reputable manufacturer. My dog inhales the Purina dental chews in seconds.

$4.50 off Tide Advanced Power HE Liquid Laundry Detergent, limit 2
I grew up with / trust Tide, though I usually buy powder (habit, probably not as good as liquid, but can also be used as scrubbing paste for pre-cleaning or spot cleaning).
Persil 2-in-1 is also excellent but pricey, except when on sale (elsewhere, like the great Target slick deal: sale + GC + rebate) - cleans very well, rinses very well (great for blankets, coats, clothes with insulation, et al), and great residiual scent.

$2 off Dawn Platinum Advanced Power Liquid Dish Soap, limit 2
Dawn is great. Note that Platinum Advanced Power version is even better - when comparing with other versions at grocery stores.

$3 off Kellogg's Eggo Homestyle Waffles
Remember when waffles used to be on sale $1 for a 16oz box? Like coffee, now you get less but pay more. I now wait for this coupon or deals to appear at Grocery Outlet.

$4 off Bibigo Chicken & Vegetable Steamed Dumplings
May try this. I like the Bibigo mini won-tons, like in July's coupon book, though the last batch didn't seem as good as before, harder / denser....

$4 off Nature Made Vitamin D3 1,000 I.U., 650 Count, limit 15
Vitamin D deficiency has been in the news a lot. If 1,000 I.U. is your dosage, this is a very good price. When I had to buy this dosage last month for my brother, even at regular price, this beat Amazon (and the recent frontpage Slickdeal) and other stores. At this coupon price - even better. Too bad my brother doesn't need 2,000 I.U. - the Kirkland version is a steal, especially in previous coupon books.

Comments on other coupons:
=====================
eyeglasses coupon is only for youth, like in the last coupon book

Best Foods / Hellmann's is my favorite mayonnaise (eggy / real tasting, firm fluffy [like beaten egg whites]).
Big 64oz size is better (less room in fridge) than the giant jars, but mayonnaise has been on sale so much recently (after a period of high prices) that I'd rather buy the smaller (less room, stays fresher in fridge) (28-32oz) jars at grocery stores on sale for $2.49 - 2.99.

Pantene shampoo
Too bad Costco has such a limited choice, and never has the 2-in-1 versions. You can do better when Target has its frequent sales, along with the $5 gift card promo, combined with the $5 off 2 coupon in the monthly Proctor & Gamble coupon book.

Cheeze-It crackers
Too bad this is the version with the 2 giant bags - goes stale quicker. Supposedly, Costco sometimes has the 45 x 1.5oz pk version, but I rarely see that in my warehouses anymore - too bad, the individual packs stay fresher, though less ecological. Besides, I got lucky and am waiting the 1-2 month for delivery of the recent frontpage deal:
60-Pack of 3-oz Cheez-It Baked Snack Crackers for $12.10
though I still have Cheeze-Its left from previous deals (more stuff to feed the ducks, seagulls, and pigeons....)

Also, check out Costco Insider's recommendations of what to buy in this book:
Costco August 2017 Coupon Book [costcoinsider.com]

For example, in the July coupon book, I skimmed over the Feit String Lights [costco.com] (a green "special value" item but not one of the "regular" coupon items with a red price or discount - one of the new features / changes to this year's coupon books).

But after reading Costco Insider's recommendation, I took a second look, researched, and found out it was less than HALF the price as elsewhere, factoring in the extra length / lights and spare bulbs (not offered elsewhere. (Again, Costco gives us more - whether we want it or not - e.g. extra razor head in the current Costco Braun Series 7 razor frontpage deal, or a gallon of mayonnaise).

We are quite surprised by some of the items in the coupon book. Overall, we'd say we're fairly impressed. Read on to see what we think! If you'd like to be notified as soon as we post the latest coupons you can sign up for our email list, or Like us on Facebook!

The biggest thing that stands out in the August 2017 Costco coupon book is that the Apple iPad is discounted! We don't recall that ever happening, especially when you consider how much Apple controls the pricing on their products in the retail space as well as the fallout Costco and Apple had a few years ago that led to Costco carrying none of their products for a while. So for the iPad to be on sale for $40 less is pretty shocking to us and a great deal if you're in the market for one. If you've never tried the Kirkland danishes we recommend you give them a shot, they're really tasty. Another sale item that stands out to us is the Kirkland Signature canned chicken breast. It's really nice to have on hand for an emergency, and is quite adaptable for a variety of meals, from quesadillas to pasta to more. Lastly, we definitely want to mention the Kirkland Signature Daily Facial Towelettes. These are by far the best face wipes we've ever used. We love how moist they stay and how soft they are and we don't think they've been in the coupon book before! The tire coupon is once again Bridgestone, and we predict in September it will be Michelin again.

Great tip about the Frugal Hotspot website. More information is better.

TU & repped.

I took a quick look. Looks like an excellent website. I love all the posts about Rhonda's treasure hunt - items that she features and the writeups about each. I don't visit Costco as often as I want to, and even when I do, I don't notice all the goodies - I often see something good in someone else's cart that I missed. (And I only used Costco Insider to view the PDF scans until recently, when I finally noticed all the useful written content like the recommendations, actual pricing, and comments.)

Her site can be like a "Costco slick deals" exposing me to all sorts of good stuff. Also, she very helpfully does the hard work of collecting and posting final prices (how often do Slickdealers ask for those in Costco threads - now we can just point them to Rhonda's site or Costco Insider) - with the caveat that local prices can vary.

Thanks again!

I think there is another website, Costco 97 (Costco prices ending in .97 are on clearance) that also points out deals.

P.S. Just wanted to give props / attention to all these Costco insider websites that preview / leak the Costco coupon books early, so we can plan - and discuss & publicize deals on Slickdeals. They did all the heavy lifting when Costco would not give us a preview - until recently. Often, the physical coupon books come late in the mail or get lost, or only the primary member gets it. While I'm glad that the sites provide PDF scans of the coupon book, the scans give me eyestrain, and I am glad that Costco.com finally previews and posts the (warehouse) coupon book deals - clearer to view and handy when I misplace the physical book. And these insider websites often point out good deals - advertised AND UNadvertised deals.

Costco Insider (see links above) thinks Michelin will come back in the next coupon book:
