Newegg has the Acer CB5-312T-K8Z9 Refurbished 224.99, this seems the lowest price I've ever seen. This is actually R13 with touchscreen.

If anyone has problems like this, try a quick and easy possible fix. Press and hold down the "refresh" key (semicircle with an arrow on top) and tap the power button. The chromebook will then do a hard reset and restart. Your data and information will still be on the chromebook, the hard reset just disconnects everything from the battery for a few seconds. Normally even when off, most hardware components in a chromebook remain powered and can get into a semi permanent wonky state that only ends when the battery is fully discharged or a hard reset is done.

I had a chromebook that for months was slow, a little unstable, had wifi issues and would often completely freeze. I saw a reference to the hard reset, tried it and it completely solved all of my problems with the device.

I bought one from Acer last month & returned it. I own several Chromebooks & use an Acer R11 daily - R13 is slower than all of them due to unstable internet. I kept seeing a spinning circle & had trouble with it maintaining a steady connection. Others have reported on slowness too, not impressed with this model.

no where in the title or order confirmation does it say refurbished. that means to a credit card company when you file an extended warranty claim and give them the order confirmation receipt, that you would get 1+1 year (vs 90 days + 90 days)

Large (the size of a 14" laptop, big bezel), heavy for a 13"er and the mediatek processor is about on par with a 2 year old celeron. Reviews report compatibility problems with some chrome extensions and android apps. Some folks say loose and flexy case and the case separating near the hinge with normal use.

I was pretty interested as a metal case touchscreen chromebook for this price is decent, but here in CA after tax and fees it went over $250. Acer's Recertified site sells the same device for under $250 and they've offered me very good customer service.

I decided to pass. My next CB needs more than a sub 10K octane score except its ticking me off that I can't get an i3 CB for an attractive price.

Just curious... how come is it that you are pretty much on every laptop thread out there asking questions like you are a legitimate buyer which you can't possibly be?

laptops i own:

asus FX502VM

lenovo thinkpad yoga 11e
lenovo yoga 710
acer aspire one ao722
acer r11 chromebook
samsung chromebook 3

1) what is your definition of "legitimate buyer of laptops" ?
2) are you a #fakeposter?

I thought you are an apple fanboy colluding in non-apple threads... anyways who knows who is a "#fake poster" these days in the times of "Fake news" and whatnot. 😉
