Not only that, but the horror stories of people not getting full credit on their trade in. I was actually one of the lucky ones that got the full credit, but tons had issues, it's all over here, other sites like XDA, and many other android communities.

It was actually a Motorola g1, in mint condition, but still old of course. I also did the Samsung financing....not sure if that helped. I also got mine in two days, didn't have the shipping issues other had as well. When I first read the issues on here I thought it was fake. Then I started seeing it pop up everywhere.

I have a g3 with a small off center crack in back camera glass. Wonder if i can get "full credit". Also wonder if the crippled u.s. model is worth buying. For the money i can get a decent $200 phone + gopro 5 or yi 4k+ for camera and i'll still be ahead. Is there a class action suit against SCAMSUNG yet?

I like it, went with the plus. Came from the g5 and a moto x pure. I wanted the Samsung pay and the vr. It is crippled though, locked bootloader, no root as of yet. Not to be confused with carrier locked, in case anyone was looking. Fine for me right now though, don't mind the stock launcher and os. Screen and camera are really good imo. They are working on root and since it's popular I am sure it is coming. Over all like it way more than the g5. Wish more companies did the front facing speakers though.

Wanted to go with he larger size. I actually think the prime at 5.7" is the perfect fit, but I also like the larger size in general. When I originally got the s8+ I was worried about the size because it was awkward IMO. After using it, watching videos on it, and using it with apps. I really like the size for viewing. I think since it ha the infinity screen it actually looks smaller, but still it makes it work. I looked at the standard s8 in Walmart and I would not have went with that size. The new Note actually looks like it would be better, not as elongated, but also supposedly going to be priced at $1000 out of the gate. Overall really like my S8+ so far after having it for a little over a month.

how is it without root? getting by or don't care?

received a typical scripted response from SCAMSUNG. their legal team thought of every little detail. can't sue them if they disclose $25 appraisal value up front. worst scam ever. there will be so many pissed customers and they can't even sue.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. We always appreciate hearing from our customers.

Thank you for your special interest in our products.

I understand that you have a few questions regarding our Galaxy S8 unlocked. I'll help you with the available information.

1. Galaxy S8 unlocked has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and also right now we are unable to speculate when Exynos version will be available in North America/US.
2. You can get a total of $300 off the Galaxy S8. (You can save $150 instantly, plus an additional $150 instant trade-in credit when trading in a qualifying smart phone).
3. We do not have any information on whether if the trade-in smartphones are used in a landfill.
4. There is no class action suit against Samsung because if the trade-in smartphone do not meet the below mentioned requirements then Samsung will value it at twenty five dollars ($25.00) and will charge you with the Trade-In Value that was applied to the purchase of your new Galaxy S8 minus the twenty-five dollar ($25.00) value ("Phone Condition Charge").

Requirements: Samsung will determine, in its sole judgment, whether your Trade-In Device is in good condition. A Trade-In Device is in "good condition" if it:

· Powers on and holds a charge;

· Has a functioning display;

· Has no breaks or cracks or other visible defects that go beyond
normal wear and tear;

· Is not on a black list of any kind; AND

· Has Reactivation Lock, Google FRP, or any other anti-theft protection software disabled.

I hope the above information is helpful. If there are any other issues that needs to be addressed, now or in the future, we are always happy to help.

If you wish to chat, email or call us for further assistance, please go to the "Contact Us" option available on the right hand side of the E-mail.

Thank you for choosing Samsung products.

Sincerely,
Amith

No root right now is fine. Eventually when it gets sluggish or I get board with stock, hopefully they will have root. As of now it works fine for my needs. Haven't needed root to run anything special as of lately.

just got notified that i'll be receiving a refund of the 175 charged because of their new screening process:

"We are writing regarding the Trade-In Order you have recently placed. Unfortunately, your Trade-In Device had been rejected and you were charged. We have made changes in the evaluation process of Trade-In Devices and your phone has met the new requirements. We are refunding the amount you were charged and it will take 5-7 business days for the credit to show up on your original payment method. The specific information for your order is as follows:"
