These are locked to prepaid unless you pay for 1 month of prepaid, must activate it using the SIM it comes with using the activation app on the phone.

1.5GB RAM, surprising for a phone this cheap
8GB storage, 3.95GB free out of box
4.5" 854x480 TN LCD, the type that washes out or color inverts badly if you tilt it vertically, first LG phone I've seen with this sucky screen
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

and the usual stuff: quad 1.1 Snapdragon 210 SoC, microSDHC slot, 5MP rear camera with LED and autofocus, 2MP front cameras, on-screen navigation buttons, GPS compass accelerometer, light and proximity sensors (another surprise), WiFi 11n, BT 4.1.

Dang, the closest Fry's to me is a little over an hour away. I'd really like to pick a couple of these up. Here's hoping Walmart or Best Buy runs a sale soon!

Does the post paid SIM trick still work? Used to be that if turned it on for the very first time with a VZW post paid SIM and not a prepaid one it would be permanently unlocked.

Haven't messed with these since the perk farm days but I'd like to grab one for post paid use if I can.

As I pointed out above, these are locked to prepaid.

About a year and a half ago, Verizon changed their system. These cannot be used on postpaid without first paying for 1 month of prepaid. Cheapest plan now is $40 + tax.

If you put a postpaid SIM in them without first paying for 1 month of prepaid, it will hotline your postpaid line.

If you use Verizon prepaid, they are definitely worth $10, no doubt about it. They are good to have for backup devices in case you lose yours or it breaks, you would have something to use.

Also if you are on Verizon and have a teenager or child who you need to get their first smartphone, you can buy this and then activate it on prepaid for $40. Total would be $10 for phone + $40 prepaid service + tax. Then after their first month, you can convert their prepaid line to a postpaid line with no activation fee and they can join your plan. They can use this device on postpaid until they are responsible enough to have a better phone.

These make for good, unobtrusive ip cameras if you want to monitor your garage or any location with power.
