LG High-Efficiency Stackable Front-Load Washer $449 at Lowes, free delivery/installation

Pretty good price at Lowes for this washing machine, which is at least $600 everywhere else as far as I can find. (RRP $699)

https://www.lowes.com/pd/LG-High-...1000267987

Key Features: Ultra Large 4.5 cu.ft. Capacity/Direct Drive Motor 10 Year Manufacturer's Limited Warranty/ColdWash™ Technology/10 Wash Programs/ENERGY STAR® Qualified/LG SideKick™ Compatible

Also if you go to LG there's a rebate up to $150 if you buy one other eligible item with the washer (Washer OR Dryer and a PEDESTAL WASHER. Can't just buy a pedestal or just a Washer and Dryer.) http://www.lg.com/us/washers/lg-W...oad-washer

Lowes themselves have a different laundry bundle offer (Purchase must include one washer, one dryer and one styler together on the same receipt) at https://www.lowes.com/pl/LG-laund...2338608465

Lowes credit card may take another 5% off, or you might be able to find a 10% discount coupon somewhere.

Although the Google search for this product says $79 delivery, it is actually free and we confirmed in the store that they will hook it up for you included. Lowes workmen will also usually take your old appliance away for an extra $15 but that is usually cash in hand, you won't find that on the website I don't believe.

Remember to add state tax. Unfortunately in my state the Energy Star tax holiday was in May :-/

It may not be in stock everywhere and you may get a delivery date in mid-September. If you can live with that, this is a pretty good deal, especially if like us your old unit's bearings are starting to make the noise that tells you that your machine has only a couple of months left to live :-)

Just for whatever it's worth, I bought a LG "Tromm" front load washer and dryer that looks similar about 12 years ago. After some (5?) years, the washer threw an error code and I found that the motor wires were not protected, and vibration against sheet metal had cut them. So I had to trace and fix that defect. Recently, I had to look at a "drain" error that was actually a blockage caused by a foam toy that somehow got out of the basket and into the drain system. Because of the error code, I suspected the drain motor and spent half a day verifying that the motor, impeller, and drive circuitry were indeed fine. And it happened again, but with discernment I could tell that the drain motor was running and it was another blockage -- another foam toy from years ago. How did these roughly one inch things get out of the basin and into the drain system anyway?! The second time took me less than an hour of work to fix. A few extra lines in their service manual would have saved me a lot of time chasing a non-existent pump problem.

And then there are the panel switches. Except for the power and start switches, every switch on the circuit board went bad over the years. So I replaced at least one dozen of those. I know, they are cheap (ten cents?) but I feel disgust that they used switches that failed with only thousands of actuations, and some less than a hundred. ALL (Yes, ALL!) decent switches should be good for at least ten thousand, and most should be good for a hundred thousand. Why did LG choose garbage switches?!

And then there is the rust. There is some design defect in the washer that somehow sends water out of the detergent bowl down the front panel. And worse, their metal coating does not protect the steel from rusting. So the left side of the front panel is badly rusted and the two screw attachment points and the bottom left side are fragile. They are hanging on "by rust". I can buy a new front panel for about a hundred bucks. Maybe I will.

I don't know what my warranty was, and I doubt that they would pay 500 to 1000 miles airfare for their repair guy anyway. And I lost my receipt. That is why I did not bother to try for warranty repair.

Other than these problems, I like the washer. If LG has fixed these problems, then I would say the new ones are an excellent value. The keyword is "if".

Conversely I have a LG front load from 2009, I've not had 1 single major issue with the unit in this time frame. I have 2 small issues with mine both involve the detergent tray and both came about in the last year or so. 1) after each load a small amount of water remains in the detergent tray that must be emptied out before next use and 2) occasionally after opening tray and emptying the water that remains a small amount of water will dribble down from the tray. I think this is likely due to some hard water build up which is very obvious by the orange staining in the detergent tray, i had an older water softener in my new home for a while and i think i need to really clean out the detergent tray and it might clear one of these issues up.
My point is that my unit has been pretty solid over 8 years of usage. Only stopped at this thread cause I've just been watching for the prospect of a good deal on a washer if one were to crop up.

Bundle this with 10% off move coupon from USPS. It will email you immediately after. I already used it a while ago when I moved, but I forgot my cat hadn't changed her address yet Smilie

The Lowes deal specifies: Purchase must include one washer, one dryer and one styler together on the same receipt

I don't know what a Styler is but when I search for it at Lowes it's a $1,500 item...

The LG deal requires you buy the Washer OR Dryer and a PEDESTAL WASHER. Can't just buy a pedestal or just a Washer and Dryer.

I have a dream that one day there will be a Lowe's post that someone won't mention a coupon.
Meh, 10% is 10% for as long as they keep doing it. I actually bought the WM4370HKA and matching dryer yesterday with it and saved $180. For those not in the know it's still solid advice.
