I was looking at some videos and the contrast was pretty bad on this projector so I looked into it. This projector is labeled incorrectly, it is a BUSINESS PROJECTOR according to BenQ's website and that explains the high brightness and washed out black levels.

http://www.benq.us/product/projector/mh530

I would avoid this if you are looking for something for movies/gaming, etc.

So this is funny, if you Google BenQ MH530 the link shows it as a business projector, but if you click the link it turns into a description for a home theater projector. It seems like it wasn't selling as a business projector so they marketed as a cheap home theater projector. Also, it is DISCONTINUED by the manufacturer. Just know what you are getting.

At this price and by time the lamp dies, you should be able to upgrade to a better projector or even 4k once those hit budget projector crowd

That's extremely wishful thinking. Projectors have the slowest innovation amongst video technology since the demand is very limited and the money is in the lamps. We still haven't gotten a decent LED projector after what 5-7 years?

well epson has gotten lamps for most of theirs below a hundred, let's hope others follow suit.

Is that true?! I will buy an Epson today then. I have been wanting a 1080p projector for years but I was waiting for a good LED one but that never happened (at least a reasonably priced model).

Loving the Epson 2045 from best buy deal ($549). Heard their lamps are under $100. Obviously projector is higher price than this one. In this price range, this BenQ also is looking good.

I like this projector, however when I compare specs this is listed as "Full HD" but HT1070 is listed as Native Full HD. Does this mean that this is really a 720P projector upconverting to 1080P?

Link: http://www.benq.us/download/file/3066

Edit: All reviews say that its Native 1080P

Haven't yet. Just got it a week ago. But clarity is awesome out of the box. I was sold on it for wifi capability and lamp price, plus no rainbow effect. Not an expert here, but these things were key for me. If you don't care for wifi, then epson 2040 is also a good one. All research thanks to slickdeals.
