8bitdo's stuff looks really great but I wouldn't depend on Switch compatibility, long-term. I imagine Nintendo is going to put a stop to that compatibility unless maybe 8bitdo starts sending them a cut.

$80....hahaha, I can make one with mostly spare parts and my 3d printer. Lost their damned minds.
But it won't be Switch compatible.

My thoughts exactly. This is what, <$10 worth of ABS filament, and maybe $20 in electronics?

Sounds like we need to buy one, reverse engineer the Switch's HID driver, and write a library :^)

edit: nvm, far too late for that https://github.com/dekuNukem/Nint...ngineering

You can try to do that, but you'll just find out how expensive a DIY arcade stick can be. You can print out all of the plastic parts, like the casing, joystick top, and button parts, but you're going to have to deal with the switches, the PCB and the joystick mechanism some other way. If you manage that from scratch or spare parts, you'll quickly find that it wasn't worth $80 of your time (unless it's your hobby and it's what you do in your spare time anyway). If you choose to buy the parts that you can't print, you'll find that just a decent PCB is already going to get you close to the $80 asking price. You can always pull a PCB out of a switch controller, but it's not like that switch controller was cheap.

Arcade sticks have a niche audience because of the cost. Given the price, it's very likely that this stick will be made with budget parts (rather than higher quality arcade parts that one would be familiar with from arcade cabinets). $80 isn't cheap, but a decent quality DIY arcade stick will be much more expensive in terms of both time and money.

How much did your 3D printer cost?

Awesome bro! Make one then. Wait how much time will be spent? It's going to be wireless Bluetooth too. Amazing. Post a YouTube video for us when you're done making it and let us know how you did it for less than 80 dollars of your time.

Oh but he's going to mass produce them to make up the hundreds on his 3d printer and compete with the quality build of 8bitdo

This seems to be a decent price for an arcade stick to me, especially one that will allow you to swap in your own buttons when you want to upgrade parts at a later time.
