33% off I Am Setsuna game for Nintendo Switch. Digital download available from Nintendo Game Store (or whatever that's actually called). link [nintendo.com]

A good deal only because it's the Switch version, really. Seems like a cool throwback RPG.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

It's a decent game, but the $40 price is way off for the amount and quality of the content. $25 is closer to right, but this really is more like a $15-$20 game.

The promotional material makes a lot of references to Chrono Trigger as a big influence, but aside from the battle system, it doesn't share much in common. Chrono Trigger had multiple interesting time periods with unique and somewhat deep characters from each, side quests that play with the idea of time travel, a varied and catchy soundtrack, a good mix of witty/silly and serious story and dialogue, and a decent play length that gave reason for multiple playthroughs. By contrast, the visuals and audio in this game are very one-note (snow + piano), the characters aren't very well developed, side quests are limited, the dialogue is intentionally melodramatic with the intent of "poignant sorrow", and literally no dialogue choices matter or result in any difference in the story (giving little reason to play through again).

It's by no means a bad game, but don't be fooled by the marketing or it's price tag. It's a simple game that does what it set out to do, but you can probably get better 'bang for the buck' most anywhere else.

The game has mediocre reviews (6 or 7 / 10) but this is a very good deal at this price. I would jump at it if Splatoon wasn't already taking up 100% of my Switch time.

I loved this game. Was the first game I played after getting my switch. Even before Zelda.

Pulled the trigger. Been eying it on PSN for a while and was wishing it was ported to the Vita for mobility. Happy that they made the Switch release as that meets my mobile needs, and this price is reasonable (plus I had that PC Game Supply funds for another $3 off).

Is there a physical version of this at all in existence? I'd want to hold out for that if possible

Not for the switch. On switch it's digital only.

You can grab a Japanese physical copy from Amazon or somewhere, since you can select English text, but I haven't heard of any NA physical release

Doesn't look like it for US release. Amazon has some physical copies from third-party sellers at seemingly inflated prices. I don't see physical copies showing on major US retailer sites.

In case you were wondering, if you select English text, it's the same game as the digital download. You aren't going to end up wishing you knew Japanese because you get stuck or anything.

I have the soundtrack to this. It's mostly piano arranged, but wonderful, always the more.

I got the japanese version off ebay but it was like $50. Plays in english on a US Switch great. But I only bought it because I had some ebay bucks... To be honest, I'd wait for it to drop to below $20. It has a lot of flaws. There are not better straight up RPGs on the Switch yet, but there are lots of better RPGs elsewhere.
