*Edit: Price dropped - Is now $1098 after rebate.

You can get the highly rated 55" Sony 55X900E down to the lowest price I have personally seen using this rebate. Price is $1298, so $1098 after rebate. The 49", will run you $998 after the rebate.

Why spend that much on a 55'' LED when you can find a 55'' LG OLED for 100-200 more? Honest question. I love Sony products but from everything I have read, even the most high-end LED doesn't outperform OLED.

You don't. This gen is the last hoorah for expensive non-oled displays. People just don't know the difference yet

Sure, that is a fair point. Some may actually be interested in this particular model though. For the OLED fans, can you post a current deal for one that is 100-200 more? TIA

Yeah... That one is like $3500, so $200 dollar rebate doesn't have as big of an impact. But it does apply if you are interested.

55" OLED is the best, but in a small front room a 55" TV will overpower the décor and make the room look even smaller and no matter how you try and squeeze a 55" OLED into a TV cabinet that will not accommodate anything larger than a 50" TV, it wont work. Until the industry comes up with a 50" OLED, the Sony XBR49X900E is your best bet this year if you need anything smaller than a 55".

Pardon my drunkenness, but are we seriously talking about a 55" TV (and good God not even an oled) for $1200ish? My 65" Samsung 8000 series was much cheaper a year ago. TD.

Seems like a pretty good deal on a 49x800e. Bestbuy has it on sale for $799. Pricematch there and get your $150 off from Slickdeals bringing the price to $649.
