Reviews I've read prefer the Sony (by a small margin), and Sony is usually priced higher.
Even people on the Bose subreddit complain about the performance of the 35s versus older models.

EDIT Not sure why the TD. This exact deal was rated well in June:

I've used the QC35 and this, and I sold my QC35.

This has a much better soundstage, and much more advanced functions.

The downside is that the QC35 is lighter and is a bit more comfortable for prolonged use. (Not that this one is uncomfortable by any means though)

Have these and they are great. Paid $350 for mine on sale (plus tax), so this is a really nice deal.

I have a 5 month old at home so needless to say my mother in-law is over all the time. Exactly how well does this noise cancelling work?

Recently got this on bestbuy for the same price. If your phone supports LDAC or aptx then sound will be even better. I got a Google pixel and I opt in for beta just to test out Android O support for LDAC. Might be placebo but it sounds better for me

I own a pair and love the sound, the gesture controls and the noise canceling is the best.

A few caveats:
*Not for gym use as they are not tight enough and slide back when lying on your back
*The left side plastic bracket cracked and will probably break completely soon. I found out this is pretty common but I'll probably super glue it.
*Don't expect to use these to make calls. They suck at calls anywhere except when calling from a quiet room.

So it filters out lower noises - engines, machines, air conditioner and some background noise, but a lot of stuff like people talking or screaming will still somewhat get through. It won't really be what you're looking for but it is heavenly for things like airplane rides.

Can't speak highly enough about these Sonys. I wear them hours every day. I compared them to Bose extensively and greatly prefer the Sonys. This is a great price too.

I do recommend a little tweaking to your taste with EQ app on your phone, but the Sonys have a MUCH better starting point.
