Oral B Pro 5500 (5000 series) Bluetooth Toothbrush ($30+tax) @ Big Lots B&M (YMMV?)

The Deal: Big Lots has the updated Oral B Pro 5000 series toothbrush (the 5500) for $30 (was $159.99). This seems to be B&M only. The toothbrush works with the Oral B toothbrush app. The 5500 series handle seems to be the same as in the Pro 6000 series (read below)

Comparisons and Reviews: In comparison, Costco has the Pro 2000 on sale for $64.99. Here you get 2 MUCH better toothbrushes for $60.

This model was replaced by the Oral B Pro 6000 and should be compared to it via this review [electricteeth.co.uk]. However, the "Key differences" section is inaccurate fo the 5500. It seems that it is the same handle as the 6000 series and has all the same features, but doesn't include the wireless smart display and only has 2 heads(the floss action/regular clean). In essence, you're buying a 6000 toothbrush with less stuff in the box Smilie

Review [dentistryiq.com]

You can call ahead to find out if they have them in stock.

Backstory + creds:
I was hunting for new toothbrushes, came to this post, for BestBuy having the Pro 3000 for $39.99. Sadly, my Best Buy had them in stock but did NOT have the sale, but jek6739 said he found the 5500 at Big Lots for $30. They had a few. Smilie However, there was no post, soooooo..... Wink

Picked one of these up a few days ago for $30 as well. Replaced my broken Sonicare. Pretty impressed so far. Only one was left at my location.

Words of Warning: DO NOT BUY THESE FROM BIGLOTS.

I bought several of these from the last similar deal like 2 years ago. The battery DID NOT last. I wouldn't buy anything RECHARGABLE from BIGLOTS. EVER. By the time they reach BIGLOTS, the batteries are almost end of life.

My original Oral-B Non-Pro version that I bought at retail stores is still going strong after more than 3 years. With these Pro ones from BigLots, the batteries didn't even last more than 6 months for me.

Don't worry, you'll more than make up for it paying for dental work.

It would be so cool if they could use old timey amalgam fillings as reference points to 3D triangulate the position of the head and give you a coverage map of what you brushed.
