Thanks OP. I bit.

Gonna sell off my silver model & recoup most of the cost of this. The newer BL supposedly has better sound. Head-fi has a nice write up: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/i...ew.833933/

The silver which I use extensively is imho one of the best bangs for your buck.

There is tax for me in NJ, but no tax in NY (and everywhere else I believe) One of the good things about having in-laws only one state over LMAO

would this be good to pair with the Monoprice Monolith M1060 Planar Magnetic Headphones on the FP?

what's the best way to get a desktop amp connected to a set of 2.1 speakers? would it be just connecting this to another receiver with RCA/Optical in?

yes, i tried it with monoliths, great sound.

for desktop, you need to usb into computer/idsd (dac) and rca out for each speaker.

How does this compare to the jds element?

I don't listen to ultra high rez audio or anything, just CD rips to flac. I have the X2, HE400i, and 6xx on the way.

Currently using a hifimeDIY UX1 as a DAC into my LD I+ with a 2107 opamp and voskhod tubes.

Honest question: What makes this so ridiculously expensive? This isn't using some expensive Intel CPU chip or anything. What part in this device warrants a price this expensive? Is this like "monster cables" of audio. Just a name and a 500% mark up?

Would that work for the poster's 2.1 setup? Plus, what if your speakers don't have rca plugs?

It's actually quite the opposite... In order to get an equal DAC /amp with a "more known" brand you're probably going to pay double the price of this deal. IFi makes great stuff, and they are actually known for value per dollar. For audio people this is a good value even not on sale.

it would depend on your sub., some subs can take rca in and have rca out for speakers via bypass, but i c ant be sure it will work as easily.

good powered speakers shouldnt need a sub anyway and most powered speakers I know take either rca or xlr... idsd has rca out, so u can get rca on 1 end and rca on other end cables, for example.

if you're looking into passive speakers (banana plugs) then you'd need something different
