Been watching this for a while waiting for some promo code or sale. Finally, HSU has a summer sale on only this sub right now for $369 (regularly $399 + $54 s/h).

Hsu makes great subs. On par with SVS.

I have a first-gen VTF-1 I bought in 2007 for $429 shipped... still going strong and rocking out our family room... great sub - more than enough oomph and goes very deep... this one looks better in every way than what we have now...

I think the VTF-2 MK5 is the one to get balancing price and performance and is worth spending a bit more. Do these ever go on sale?

Looks like they've had the VT2 for $499 on different holiday sale promotions... So, just a minor discount...

I had HSU and loved it but it died after about 5 years. I switched to SVS. Maybe I just got a bad apple though.

I like what they did with this sub. I don't completely like the idea of plugging ports because I figure it's designed to be good ported, or sealed, but as long as it sounds good...

Since we mostly talk about SVS, and are moving towards rythmik etc, I'd like to mention this little gem I've been looking at. The Roger Sound Labs 10s. In this price range, RSL has very brought out a very highly acclaimed sub. If this thing is built like their old stuff, it's like a tank, and should sound good for a long time. This is on my short list for new subs. I thought it was $100 more for some reason. At $400 with free shipping, and FREE RETURNS for 30 days, it could be the next budget champ. Check reviews. This will play well into the 20's.

That Klipsch is rated at 25Hz, and 300 watt rms. Both of these subs play lower. You'd need their R 15" to beat them for HT. Both do music better than either Kilpsch sub. For music, bass is tricky to implement properly even with very good subwoofers. If you are not that picky, or use it mostly for basic HT, the Klipsch should be fine. Especially when it's $200 on sale. Just don't A/B test them with better subs.

I have never seen the Klipsch sub drop to $200. Sure you're referring to the r-112sw?

I think it's been as low as $220.
