How can you possibly have never noticed the myriad canned products containing meat or dairy ingredients on store shelves?EEK! The short answer is that it's commercially pressure-canned. (Meaning with a few exceptions, using specialized equipment, "do not try this at home.) This one specifically is also possibly the most horrible-tasting convenience food ever created by humankind (arguably worse than Spam, though personally, I consider them both squarely in the "only if I were starving to death" category, and I eat plenty of canned and frozen convenience foods in general), but I suppose that's not really relevant to your question. Wink
