This is by far the best price for such a amazing rich feature projector. I tried to pricematch with Fry's and the manager couldn't approve at this price, I tried Best Buy but they quoted me 15% restocking fee which was a dealbreaker, I was happy to order from Crutchfield with 60 day returns with $10 return label.

I have been looking for a deal to break into the 4K and this was the answer to my dreams.

I am waiting to compare it to Sony 45ES because these were the two in my sub 2k range. I picked up the Sony 45es from Frys for $1799 with no tax and did PP with Citi which made the projector at net $1299. So I am paying $300 more for motorized lens and 2.1X zoom and 4K capabilities for future proofing.

All of this for $1499 with free shipping and no tax for most!

This projector in comparison has most of the features of the expensive brother 5040UB for a whole 1K less.

For those who are new to "e-shift" or faux 4K - this is good review which compares HD to Upscaled 4K or 4K video.

I wish I could afford the 5040UB but for now this will suit me well for next 5 years.

I would like to see comments about comparing this to Sony 45ES another top projector for Full HD or the Optoma UHD60 with Faux 4k which are sub 2k.

Such a sham. There's nothing remotely relevant about this projector to 4K-UHD resolution. Being able to accept a 4K-UHD input and downconvert it to HD is a NOTHINGBURGER.

what is this "faux 4k" thing?

does that mean Epson will accept my faux payment for the projector?

There are different types of "4k" projectors. Some of the pixel shifting technologies are better than others and can indeed project 8.3 million addressable pixels. Learn more here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/4...ectors.htm and here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/o...review.htm

Ahhhh. I was looking for this around this price. Just bit the bullet on a TV instead.

Note- the faux 4k adds some ms to input lag for gamers (IIRC, ends up around 35-ish ms) and 3D OR 4k, it can't do both-- note, there isn't a 4k 3D spec anyways, but it wouldn't be able to if one developed.

Thanks for posting deal. I'll finally upgrade my PowerLite Home Cinema 3010 Projector I paid $1350 for back in 2011 / 2012. It is still working great but this deal is too good to pass up. Pretty sure it's a price mistake. Will see if order actually ships. It's $2199 everywhere else and was just released.

True, can't wait to see what this baby can do once the quality of uhd movies is more consistent.
