free shippingiESL is pretty good. it's basically an electrostatic energizer while also having 4-pin xlr out. it works flawlessy with HDMI link from pro ican OR via passive banana plugs from a stereo amplifier. Rumor is that it uses some kinda old school power transformer for extra ooomph

I am all for iFi products, but will never buy Audeze again. I have the Black Label and love it. I also had the LCD 2's but they were wayyyy too heavy for me to wear comfortably. The sound quality was great, but I think comfort is equally as important.

What headphones do you prefer to use with the Black Label?

I keep seeing this complaint about the audeze bring too heavy... What headphones are you currently using? I tried looking up the lcd3 and it looks like they are only 100g or so heavier than my PS500 which I find to be quite lightweight. I'm really interested in trying out the audeze.

i tried lcd-3. they are heavier than most but they also have the softest cups and headband of all, so while weight is there, it's like 2medium pillows, when i tried them.

I use the Beyer Amiron home. I tried probably 15 pairs before I settled on these. Audeze sound great but the weight did get me after an hour or so.

Just out of curiosity, what are people using audio amps and fancy headphones for? I wrack my brain over wanting a $300 pair and just dont understand what use I would have for an amp. How is this a justifiable purchase unless you are quality control for recording audio?

if your source is bad, then nothing gonna help it. but with impeccable source, you do hear the difference. you, of course, need a quiet room. the depth you hear, is hard to explain, but i def hear it.

Some people just want to hear every little detail.

That being said it's a slippery slope. As prices go up you get diminishing returns on your investment.

Also the value/performance of 'Audiophile' equipment is based on:

1/4 quarter science
1/4 pseudo science
1/2 marketing hype

Pay what your comfortable with, and try to test out all your options. Pick what sounds best based off that. Don't chase the 'Audiophile' dragon unless you've got money to burn and infinite patience to discuss (argue) with other Audiophiles the merit of your rig.

Thank you. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with a purchase like this unless I won the lottery. I'd like to try out some equipment like this but have never see it available to try out.

@iconian Do you think LCD-X is a huge upgrade over the EL-8 Titanium ?

I got the EL-8 Tit from the other deal and was wondering if i should jump directly to LCD-X, skipping the EL-8

imo, YES, lcd-x is easier to drive lcd-3. i also heard xc and those are best closed cans.

Regret the day I had to sell all my gear. Just starting over now. I haven't heard the newer LCD series. The LCD -2 rev1 were the best overall headphone I've ever heard and I've listened to many from different amp, dac combinations, lossless files and the whole of it. For absolute detail and air, electrostatic wins. For something really really good,IME, it was the Audeze sound because of the warmth and bass extension.
