By far the best beginner quad out there for the money. And I say beginner meaning you spend $30 (cheapest I've seen for the x5c) on something that you will undoubtedly crash over and over again and it will keep going somehow. It is by no means easy to fly. Doesn't have all the fancy sensors and GPS. But it is a lot of fun. Buy this.

Practice indoors first with the prop guards on. when you go outside take the prop guards OFF. They catch too much wind and they are a hook for tree branches.

Here's a quick video overlooking a lake with my x5c unedited. Turn your volume off and bump up video quality to 720:

Video quality isn't anything to write home about, but hey, it's a cheap product and enough crispness in the picture to have fun.

We are talking about a $30 quad here, not a $150 quad. I do agree with your idea if we are referring to something like an x8 -which is nothing more than a bigger toy- but we're not.

There are tons of good reasons to buy one of these. You can't just fly a phantom anywhere- try it at the park with people around and see how long that lasts. Try flying a phantom in adverse wind conditions. Nope, packing up. In a downtown setting?

I know people that have phantoms that hardly ever fly them because they wont unless they are in the right location with the right weather and right conditions. Those things do not matter with the x5c.

I've lost one x5c flying high in high winds when I was starting out, who cares? It was a $20 replacement.

I just think it's misguided to think that a phantom fits all needs, it doesn't. It's a camera bird, it's not a let's do risky flying drone. I could buy three phantoms but what's the point? Unless I'm using it as a camera platform, and making money off of it- forget it.

For those people complaining about 100 minute charge times, it's called multiple batteries. They are what $3 each? I
Fly with 6 or 7 at a time. I was flying at a field with a guy flying a phantom 3, I was there as long as he was with his three battery changes. Granted I was envious that he was flying 1/2 mile down the river pov, but perhaps would not be if the phantom suddenly dropped into the river Smilie

No, you can't charge one of these batteries in 30 minutes no matter what type of charger you have. You're limited to how fast the battery can safely take a charge, that is up to 1c or 500 mah on the original batteries. With a better hobby charger you can charge more than one at a time.

No, the quad is not going to fly away if you lose signal. It may fly around 5 seconds or so more before it cuts out and crashes. But that 5 seconds can be a big deal if you are flying in a tight areas and in high winds or high heights so be careful.

Finally, like these other guys have said, remove the camera and leave it off unless you want to film something. In fact you can remove the whole battery door- it does nothing really except serve as a mount.

My son have three of quadcopters with cameras, he love to use them when we go to the wild.
Does this model work with 1080P HD or just 720P?
I believe it's just 720 with what comes on the quad, but, it can carry a keychain camera that does 1080. Unfortunately, a real 808 camera probably costs as much or more than this quad!
If you buy a knockoff 808 it's worse than what comes with it. That's about it for cameras as it can not carry anything larger.

Still, for the price it's a fantastic quad. Takes a beating and will teach you how to fly. Extras I suggest right off the bat are spare motors and batteries. While the quad can take crashes, the motors will not do so well.......ask me how I know.

No auto Hover, not that big of a deal, you just have to manually adjust the throttle. I fly both types. The X5C is a steady flyer so it doesn't take tons of adjustments (unless like me, you fly high up with winds outside).

YES, and when you get better at flying Remove the lower motor mount protectors (those white pieces under the gears that used to be landing feet on another model). It reduces weight and vertical wind surfaces. I have mine cut off flush like on the newer models.
Your video looks good. Is this just the camera mounted stock or with vibration reduction? Not a lot of jello there, until the infamous x5c wobble decent.
