Edge lit. Man, it has every other spec I want (true 120hz, 10bit wide color). No Dolby Vision. And their 2016 models were terrible at off angles.. I wish there were more reviews, but it's only a month and a bit old.

The walmart listing is all messed up with specs between the h9d plus and non plus model. 120hz panel is for the plus model which this is not. They both should be full array local dimming according to the hisense website. IMO, going to wait for reviews and would want the plus model.

Ugh. Why do they make high-end TVs that are edge lit in 2017?

Edit: OK, someone is saying this is full array local dimming, which is more like it. I'll wait to see if we can get anything conclusive.

Edit 2: Hisense site says "Edge-lit local dimming backlight", which sounds like it won't have much control over the darks, compared to full array. I'll pass on this.

Definitely not a fair comparison. 240 Hz effective vs 600 Hz effective might be. If this screen is a true 120 Hz, then it is capable of 120 FPS. Meanwhile, a 600 Hz plasma will still only do 60 FPS, it just flashes the same screen 10 times. It definitely looks and feels great, I loved my plasma when I had it. However, there are also a lot of positives about a true 120 Hz screen.

Regardless, if you have no intent to game with a high end gaming PC on this TV, the high refresh rate likely isn't so necessary given that movies and shows clock in at 24 FPS, well below the 120 FPS it is capable of.
