Note -- this is cheaper steel - but not a bad price.

No, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. These knives are intended to be resharpened in the field with basic tools such as rock. Having a softer steel just means more sharpening, but easy sharpening. I bought this knife (this version, not the AUS-8 one) 3 years ago but I've never used it once (I don't go camping) LMAO

At least you acknowledged that it's cheaper steel. I repped you for this, but I'll pass on the deal. Thanks for posting

Softer 7Cr17MoV stainless steel, but easy to sharpen and I don't think you will beat it for the price. Nice leather sheath holds the knife securely. I like mine and carry one of those tiny Smith's sharpeners in case it needs a touch up in the field, which usually takes only a few strokes.

Not a great knife you will wow your knife snob friends with, but a good bargain for $15. If you want a "better" knife then pay for it. Just understand which steel you are getting and if it suits your intended purpose and is at a good price point vs quality.

Here's is a good read on knife steels: http://knifeinformer.com/discover...ife-steel/

It's 15 bucks plus 5 dollars shipping, correct? So 20 bucks total?

I have 3 Mora knives. Super great deal when they go on sale. I use them mostly as steak knives, which is not the intended use, but why not. They're great all-around blades.

As others have said, the carbon one will oxidize quickly if not dried.
