Thank you, I happened to be at Walmart when I saw this and I picked one up they had it in the garden area near the plants the units at this store were Pretty Dirty some have spider webs and you definitely have to wash them down when you get home looks like they were stored outside but seem to work just fine

This thing works great if you need to salt sidewalks during snow storms.

Went to pick up the Scott's spreader and saw this just next to it. Too big for my needs but if you have a larger lawn it may suit you better. $19 at most stores.

Would this be good for an area of 3000 square ft?

I like the ones you can carry with a shoulder strap. They spread so much better.

They ended up getting marked down to $7.50 last year. Picked up several then, and no complaints. As fall season rolls around, you'll see a lot of the garden stuff go on clearance at Walmart, HD and Lowe's.

Yeah I got this one for like $5 bucks last year as well. So just wait and see if you dont absolutely need one right now.

Also saw some big ones for around $25 bucks. Personally I would just use the smaller one because its it takes less space to keep. You would just need to refill it a little bit more when you feed runs out. Which is not a biggie.

I bought a "nice" broadcast spreader from Lowes earlier this season and it did a horrible job spreading the fertilizer. I had race stripes in my lawn. What spreader are you recommending?

Almost all fertilizers say to run two passes perpendicular to each other so you avoid race stripes.

There were also some older models with a "defect" where the stuff you were spreading would catch in the inner wheel and lay down in narrow strips, causing strips of seed, fertilizer...

That said, this holds maybe 8-10 pounds of stuff, so for a larger lawn (4-5k and up) I would get a bigger one so you don't have to stop and refill a bunch of times.
