I think these are in store only deals.
something tells me they forget to update the bundle pricing when they dropped the price of 6850K from $399 to $349.

I'm pretty sure the savings will turn into $30 soon.
jump on this while u can.

Intel Core i7-6850K Broadwell-E 3.6 GHz LGA 2011-3 Boxed Processor $350
Save $100 when bundled with a compatible motherboard

Save only $30 with the bundle. I think they fixed it, at least for me.

This also applies to open box boards as well. I was basically able to snag a asrcok extreme 4 x99 for $1.97, after $100 off, and it also had a $30 rebate on it.

Reserve the items online and when you checkout at the store request the discount and they will apply it.

It looks like bench-wise, this is comparable to the ryzen 7 1700x, even a touch more expensive with this deal than the normal 1700x price because the cheapest mobo I can pick is a 120. Any reason to still snag this over the 1700x? That has lower power consumption, is newer and has 2 more cores (for the future).

I know this chip will support windows 7 updates til 2020 while the ryzen only works on 10. Anything else?

Nice deal, just seems like Ryzen kills the value this would have been. Would probably rather have a higher clocked 7700k, or a 17/1800 Ryzen with 2 more cores.

Also, I just tried to get this with an open box board and was no-go on the discount. Luckily I just called, didn't drive over!

The discount does apply to open box items at the register.
The person on the phone probably just added both items to cart and it didn't get discounted.

He went over the whole thing on the phone, had me on hold for 10 minutes before coming back and saying open box doesn't apply etc....

I may still drive there and see I can swindle them into it. Not sure this chip is worth 350 even with a free motherboard though... DDR4 prices are so damn high.

Too bad microcenter is pathetic in not selling cpus for shipping. So any time they have these stupid in store only deals, I have to watch them go by without getting them. They have the best prices currently on basically all cpus and I can't get it from them.

The only reason they do these deals is to get people in the store. These deals are considered a loss leader. It would make even less sense for them to make these deals online deliverable. Because not only is a profit loss, they aren't large retail entities like BestBuy or even Fry's. So, fulfilling the resulting huge demand would not be viable. Brick & Mortar sales are still actually relevant for MC's and very much so profitable.

Micro Center makes most of the profits from the service department. All the processors and motherboards get you inside the door because they want full number of customers inside.
