It is possible that this was only in my Home Depot, but I thought I'd pass it along anyway just in case. The EGO 14 in. 56-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Chainsaw (no battery) was on the clearance rack for $85. There are still 3 left at the Seabrook, NH store. The online price is $199.

I have the 16 inch version and love it. I am a "weekend warrior" so I cannot compare it to more legit chainsaws, but overall the reviews were good. I use it every couple of weeks. You will probably want the bigger battery (5, not 2) because the chainsaw eats a lot of power.

HD website shows none in-store around me. I would've gone to check if website showed any in-stock. I have the mower, blower, and trimmer and have been happy with them so far (owned for about a year and a half). I have thought about getting the chainsaw, even though I don't think I'd use it more than 2 times a year if that, but it was too expensive for the amount of times I'd use it.

Now that I think about it, it might be better for me to borrow from a neighbor if possible or just rent one if I ever need it. I don't have any really big trees in my yard anyways. Well, this was therapeutic.

Thanks for posting though.

I have the 16" and love it!! I was able to cut down and make firewood out of two smaller trees (8 inch) on one battery charge.

Isn't there some sort of law protecting bonsai trees? 8" is an awfully short tree!?

How did you search it? Says it is an item that is not sold in stores for me.

What does the 2" difference between the 2 EGO version represent in real world application?

I just clicked on the link the OP provided. It says "not sold in your store" for me too and all the stores around me says it will get shipped to the store. I don't know if it ever was in the store, I'm just assuming it would say there are some in-stock online (like other items usually do) if they actually had some in the store.

I saw it in the store. My store is showing the same message but I'm pretty sure they still have some. Maybe they do this for clearance items?

I used to borrow chainsaws. Spent a lot of time fixing other people's dull chains and lack of maintenance. Ended up with the GreenWorks 40v chainsaw and pole saw. It's a nice set for doing basic maintenance.

Since you already have the batteries this would be a pretty awesome deal. Battery powered saws are great when you have infrequent use situations.

Just that you can make a 2" bigger cut in 1 pass. So really...nothing.

That or online purchases returned to store. Would seem odd to see several though.

There's actually more too it. The 16" comes with a bigger battery. Also, when you insert that bigger battery into either saw, it actually becomes more powerful. So essentially they are the same saw, but different bar sizes. But the use of a bigger battery (in either saw) will trigger it to be more powerful. It's pretty neat and unexpected

But the poster asked what the extra 2" would do for him.
