Looks generic but I've seen this in use, works fine. Grade B or warranty should be considered though. 1st time looking at the specs and ops did a good job listing them. Docks seems to be getting better over time imo when they add such chipsets to offload some of the work.

It's also missing the $275+ price tag that comes along with the optical port.

Where did you read that it supports USB charging? Per the specs page on Amazon:

Quote :
Power and Charging
  • Functions as a USB hub only; no special charging functionality for charging tablets and smartphone devices
  • Does not provide power to attached host laptop or tablet; the host system will still require its power cable/charger.

sorry but this is gonna lag. Video over USB is using display link drivers. USB-C or go else.. USB 3.0 doesn't cut it. 3.1 has the bandwidth. This doesn't.

one of the top reviews on amazon seems to suggest that enabling aero theme on windows seems to make the lag go away

on a side note - this is definitely NOT for gaming - it won't use your gpu to run video

This is why I prefer USB-C, it is a passthru using your laptops built in GPU. Hate on Apple but USB-C , now Thunderbolt 3 is a thing moving forward. Even on Windows, I only look at Dell or Lenovos and it requires Thunderbolt 3 ports for me. For future proofing.

My manager had these, didn't last that long. Pcb components and build quality felt cheap. Personally, I would buy a used Lenovo dock from eBay.

I bought this new several months ago for a home office and it is phenomenal. It retailed for 90 or so on Amazon. I now have 2 external monitors running off a Lenovo Flex4 laptop...so I have a 3 monitor setup. I never intended to use this for gaming or video editing. The company is also great to work with. I was able to chat over email and get answers quickly. This is not meant for gaming or video editing. I recommend this as a home office solution to everyone.
