the newer model is just upsell marketing because mu-mimo does not actually work beyond 2 simultaneous devices until 802.11aX comes out late 2018. so the only downside to these model is the lack of third party firmware support which means nothing to you if the feature set from tp-link's firmware does everything you could want - so yes... getting a quality ac2600 dual channel is a good deal under $100. honestly if you live in an apartment with under a dozen devices this is already double the router you could need - in a 2,000sqft 2-3 story house on a quarter acre, this ac2600 would do nicely once centrally positioned.

Do you think this router is better than the Nighthawk X4S R7800? That one is highly rated last year.

Tax and shipping are killing the deal. Amazon has the same price if price+tax+shipping. Its not a great deal unless you really want it.

imho the premium would only makes sense if you have 3 or more mu-mimo clients, such as multiple AC endpoints around an office building or mega-mansion all trying to distribute a 1 gig isp while covering any dead spots potentially being blocked by metal objects (laundry, kitchen, garage, metal lath and girders). there's also the bragging rights of having a top router in dah huse - if that matters to you Wink

personally, i'd rather buy used/refurb anything gig port dual channel ac750/1200/1900 with beam forming, and just use 2 or more of them for best coverage - bonus if they except open source firmware. i would not buy one big monster wifi router till 2019 once the 11.aX standard settles down and become affordable. anyone who agrees with my approach, be careful if you get 1gig isp - make sure your main router actually has wan:lan ports that can handle it, most routers out before 2015 will not.

Not sure why this is a popular deal.

Newegg has this one on 8/1/2017 and it lasts about one week. And nobody vote for it.....
-->Archer C2600 + Netgear N300 Range Extender $90 w/MPCO

And this one without the gift (N300) is 14 cents cheaper and 14 people vote for it????

.......Every penny counts?
