In 4 1 for my ex-coach who just signed up for comcast. Says it's max 100Mbps? But shouldn't it be 343 max? They got a 150Mbps plan I think

Number of channels has less to do with the speed of the plan and more to do with congestion avoidance and quality of service. While this will work for most lower speed plans you're screwing yourself by not buying at least a 16 channel modem. You'll get higher ping times, variable download/upload rates, etc.

Its like buying a nice car (your internet connection) and then pushing it around to save on gas. Plus you'll get a much longer life span out of a 16 or 24 channel modem.

Seems comparable to my SB6121 that seems to be on its last legs. For $20 what the hell, in for one. Thanks OP.

*EDIT* - Amazon Link [amazon.com] for $25.

Got this as part of a combo deal a while back and use it with Comcast. They blamed it first when I had an issue activating service but I mentioned it says it works on their website and they eventually sent a tech out. Tech said the support person didn't know what they were talking about.

Would this work on optimum online? They just started charging me a rental fee after years of having their service without modem rental fees.

Theoretically yes but just about every cable provider provisions 8 channel modems for 100mbps. Only 16 or higher will get you the full speed on that150mbps plan. Spreading the traffic over multiple channels is the only way to keep network congestion at a minimum.
