I usually don't see the ultralight setup on sale. Reel is generally not great, but rod is pretty nice. Discount applied at checkout. Free shipping for Prime members.

I have never fished before, but I want to buy a quality pole and start. Is this a good choice? I have a river near me and a couple lakes, just wondering if you need different stuff for different purposes. Any good articles/tips on bait and technique, etc? Thanks.

You know there are actual "sabiki rods" that keep the sabiki inside the rod for safe keeping? The rod alone is more expensive than this combo, but you can put any $5 reel on it. If you sabiki often you will save money on the rigs since you can store them safely after use.

If you wanted to be even slicker you can make one yourself out of PVC pipe or whatever. There are videos online.

I believe you can find it cheaper at times but if you want to catch bigger fish, look around for the ugly stik catfish rod, you can find it with a reel or w/o for around $30-40
